Nasty Spam Trick (The Bad Kind, not the 'Postcount +1' Kind)
I checked my Yahoo mail earlier, and I caught an obvious spam for Russian mail order brides (a concept I will never understand, much less take advantage of ), so I try hitting the 'This is Spam' button... except, the button is not there!! I go back to my inbox, and my feelings are confirmed: The spam was 'sent' from INVALID_ADDRESS@SYNTAX_ERROR, which by some evil magic, makes it completely unblockable, despite the fact that I have a filter that's supposed to delete-on-site anything with that from address!
Fuck I hate spammers!

I will pray to the gods that the spammers will burn for eternity for this crap. After all, remember my Anti-Spam Uber-Flame Rant post some months back?

I started getting a bunch of those on my Yahoo account as well, but it wasn't too hard for me to filter them out. In my case every single one was for either breast enlargements, penis enlargements, or septic tank cleaning, so all I had to do was setup a keyword filter for those words. I use to get 5 of them a day, after the filter I haven't seen one in ages.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

I get fucking spam on my private "tell only friends" E-Mail. Pissed me off. I eventually had to block everyone who wasn't on a (very small) list.

erm, nope. That's why it pissed me off. It was RoadRunner (cfl.rr.com, to be specific) Now, noone who isn't bbs.stardestroyer.net and a few newsletters (gamespy + TechTV + G4TV.com) or a small list of friends is deleted from mail server as soon as outlook recognises it.

I get lots of Spam, but I also get almost no mail from friends so I generally just mass delete if I even bother to check.

Yeah, thats why I have about a dozen hotmail addresses for that specific purpose. I only use my real one for the TSS newsletter and actual e-mail.Crayz9000 wrote:Throwaway accounts for 'free' registrations are your friend.Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:I'll betcha Gamespy sold your address...

Yahoo mail is decent. I want to try using Mozilla mail, but Yahoo shut down their POP service. I also have an f*ckmicrosoft.com address which I can reroute to another real one if my real one gets choked. I never use it though because it's kind of inappropriate to give to people.
