My fiance' is Japanese and I am anglo. I am 6'4". a body builder and weigh 245. If someone has a problem with it, they can say it to my face.

What surprised me when I dated an Asian girl was that her parents were the racist. I'm sitting at their table talking to her dad waiting for her to get dressed to go out. We ended up on the topic of the Japanese concentration camps in WWII ... I think I had a history class on it. So when she comes down and is doing something with her hair involving a blow dryer and is coloring her nails. Her parents go into the other room and talk amongst themselves. I catch my name and some Japanese (they are first generation immigrants).

So after we are in the car I ask her what it means as I parot it as best I can. It translates to "He's nice for a foreignor, but I hope she finds a proper Japanese husband" - she was going to Japan for a year of study soon thereafter. It ended up breaking off before she left, but it was all I could do treat her parents respectfully and not make snide comments about them. She ended up marrying a Israeli she met in Japan, and thus another pair of racist bigots were thwarted

Racist jerks better get used to interracial relationships, because they're only going to increase. There's more communication and mixing of cultures, etc. One thing I really hate is how I'm expected to act a certain way because I'm Chinese. Oh, I'm supposed to get good grades, back down when challenged, not swear, etc...

We need more interracial fucking...

Tell me about. My folks are always on my case about getting good grades and being accepted into a good college, even though nobody cares where you start out as long as you graduate from a good college. And I'm supposed to take AP classes, which I almost got away with not doing (I need to take AP Calculus next year to have a legal schedule).

Anyway, if two people want to be together, who are we stop them? As long as they can take care of each other, it's all good.

Speaking of interratial couples on TV, ever notice how rare they are on commericials? I mean most of the time they've got a balance going of white, black, asian, and hispanic people (not always an accurate percentage, but oh well), and if it's a ketchup commercial or some scene at a backyard cookout, they've got a bunch of white families and some black families intermingling and enjoying the ketchup or whatever (asian and hispanics families don't seem as common, though, as if they simply don't form families or talk about products), but what about interracial families and couples? When was the last time an Asian guy complained to his non-asian wife of his heartburn? How often does a white teenager talk to his sweetie on his expensive-service cellphone, and it turns out *shock*, the horror of horrors, his cute little sweetie is black! Heaven forbid if he flirts with those cute black girls over cellphones.

And my main point that I'm finally summing up after all that rambling is: Why is Hikaru Utada so hot?

One thing about subjects like this is that you become more sensitive to who your friends are.
