Remake of Xenogears

Remake of Xenogears
I personally would like to see Xenogears on the PS2, with better graphics and character sprites (Elly had such a nice ass on the CD case art, it's a shame not to see it in CG.) More anime sequences would do nicely, as well as more FMVs.

Of course it should be remade. It's possible that Episode V of Xenosaga will really be Xenogears remade, depending on which way MonolithSoft chooses to go.

Definitely. Takahashi was forced to release an rushed and incomplete game the first time around (numerous omitted areas filled in by narration on the second disc kind of spoiled the buildup of the first disc). Xenogears was nonetheless an epic. Seeing how a fully-completed version would look would be great. Filling it out with more FMVs, enhanced graphics, and subquests on top of that would be even better.
You can improve the look of the game as it stands by emulating the disc under PC hardware (with a good graphics card); however, that natually requires both an original copy of the game and the appropriate software and hardware. Not sure if this falls under the new "no pirating" regs here due to Sony considering emulation and piracy to be synonymous (despite the use of original discs), so I won't elaborate.

I dont think it should be remade, first of all, who remakes a game for the very next system that comes out ? Second of all the game was fine the way it was, it would be a waste of money to release it again. Squaresoft should concentrating on moving up, not recreating a game that not everyones heard of. Is it just so you can see Ellys ass in a higher resolution?

Why not? They did it for Metal Gear Solid 2, didn't they?aphexmonster wrote:I dont think it should be remade, first of all, who remakes a game for the very next system that comes out ? First they came out with MGS2: Sons of Liberty, then they came out with MGS2: Substance for the same system.
Would it really be that far a leap for a remake of Xenogears?

In any case, I don't think we'll see one (unless Monolith Soft makes XS Episode V into a remake of Xenogears, which they still may do). While XG was an extremely successful game (it sold 892,000 units in Japan, and probably a few hundred thousand in America as well), it may not have been successful enough to warrant a remake. I would imagine that Square would remake one of their more successful titles, like FFVII, first, before even considering an XG remake. In any case, Square is not interested in the Xeno franchise, as shown by their rejection of the Takahashi's original plan for continuing the series under the Square name.

Besause I'm not really into anal sex. Besides, it's not just the women, the whole game needs to better rendered. I've seen better graphics on the N64,hell, the SNES looked better than Xenogears in some places.aphexmonster wrote:You guys are hopeless Why not just use that technology to make a spin off souly based around Elly and her ass ?
Xenogears was a pretty good-looking game for its time, actually, other than those atrocious pixellated sprites.

Yeah, but the game centers around those pixellated sprites, so the effect is magnified. The placing of the anime sequences was a bit spasmodic. There were a lot in the beginning, then a long time with no anime sequences, then more at the end. It should have been more evenly distributed.Durran Korr wrote:Xenogears was a pretty good-looking game for its time, actually, other than those atrocious pixellated sprites.

... it was big. I just think its too soon to make a remake of a game like that. Maybe in a few years, playstation will develop a hand held system that plays mini DVDs and they'll port xenogears to it just for you
we'll call it, pocketstation! PS1
