I think Sars is a conspiracy project waiting to happen. How else can one explain? There are millions and millions of viruses and why Sars and why China? Because, rightly guessed, USA & UK and others want to undermine China's growing economic might. Yes! That's right. China is threatening US & UK domination in every field. Sadly, Chinese people have been brainwashed heavily to realise and accept this theory. Before they do, it will be too late as the economy of China is going to be pushed back, close to 10 years. Poor Old China, which could have turned the tide of the recent future. Now we all have to wait again, I would say, at least 30 more years for another country to come close to overpowering the white man's domination.. We need a changed world. We are sick and tired of the same old burgers, pizza, Madonnas and Bushes - we need something new!

We three have already planned to go to China Beijing and are not worried about the Sars. Our goal is fixed and we will complete it. That is going to Beijings Wangjing hospital to learn acupuncture. We have boosted our immune power and we will not be affected by the virus and we are sure about it. Everybody must boost their immune power and fight Sars. There are many herbs available in all the systems of traditional origin like Ayurveda and Chinese herbal medicine. This must be made use of and be tested now. Indian system of pranayama and the sudarshan kriya will also help in building the confidence. Prevention is the best way.

Yes, Sars, which has killed only a few hundred people, is a horrible evil conspiracy virus, when the common INFLUENZA VIRUS kills thousands per year. BUT THE FLU ISN'T THE CONSPIRACY.

Nature doesn't need our help. If we wanted to fuck over China they'd be dropping dead like flies. And it wouldnt just be the sick and infirm. Everyone who was HEALTHY lived.

I love the way people like this think that "chinese herbs" and "secrets" will keep you healthy, when China is chock full of sick people, in poor health.

I dont know why they want to kick modern medicine out the door.

A poor analogy, homeopathy in China is mostly old remedies handed down for generations, the fact that it gets so much press is that it is exotic from a western standpoint. It is also quite expensive, and china is not so sick a nation as you think. You are using the same analogy as people use to decide chinese medicine is better.
In the US there are plenty of sick people who get no treatment from western medicine because they don't have money, but this doesn't mean that western medicine is flawed.
I agree that chinese herbal remedies are not cure alls, but your logic was flawed.
And what do you know, some might work.

Health care in China is pretty poor. No, they are not dying in droves from cholera, sorry if I gave that impression. I was just trying to point out that there is a group of people who think that modern medicine is worthless and folk medicine is the key to long life.

I may disbelieve and believe a lot of things, but I don't believe in conspiracy theories.

Why blame it on a handful of brilliant manipulators when it's our own stupidity as a species?

The increasingly linked economies of the US and China means that any drastic slowdown in China's growth due to SARS would have unpleasant ramifications on the US economy as well. I doubt the US would want that, especially in the present economic climate.

So, do we have a motive? NO.

umm, werent alot of the chinese herbal medicine things found to actually be curative, like whatever they use to treat bacteria, is in fact a natural anti-biotic, etc?

Chinese herbal remedies often focus on strengthening the body instead of eradicating disease. There's also a concept of 'balance'. Too much 'heat'(yang), or too much 'cold'(yin) causes disease, and curing the disease means bringing the body back into balance.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But some application of the above together with western medicine gives excellent results(at least to me)!

Several "old skool" medicines have been found to work, HOMEOPATHY DOES NOT. There's also alot of symbolic shit on their markets too, that does nothing, placeboes as it were, like tiger penis for aphrodisiac and so on.

What do you mean by homeopathy?Frankly,I read up some of the "Chinese alternative medicine" in the Western literature.The only thing I can say is,it sure isn't what I learned.

But then again,America has a strange way of "americanising" foreign concepts.I read up some american literature on Buddhism,released by one of their "temples".All I can say is,it sure ain't Buddhism as I recognise it.

And that's why i hate homeopathy. Dedicated homeopaths often charge extortionate amounts for their services too.

Celebrities such as david beckham have used homeopathic medicines and say it worked, however there has been no evidence under scientific conditions to make it work.

on a side note: there was one prodigious italian professor who lost his excellent reputation by saying that it did work once in his lab. Unfortunately for him, the results have never been duplicated.
