The energy buffer protecting him from the light(what is light but energy?) for the first split secnd before it fell, Alyrum had a chance to snap his fingers, ad telepot to the aray. Able to suvive vacuum, Alyrium summoned forth a hail of meteors and tore the array to pieces.

*teleports back*

Do you Gundams have any sense of honor? He said with a wry smile. Usingfriends and allies in a personal duel, for shame. Do you realize the level at which I have been holdng back? Well there will be no more of that.

Alyriumumbld smething to himself, and a multicolored sphee of energy(prismatic sphere) came up at protected him from all forms of attack, the he waved his hnds ad ahail of meteors shot from his fingers. They hit the gundam and exploded doing massive damage(in D&D terms 240,648,192 damage, a stick of tnt does 18, for 6.69 kilotons)
Alyrium waited for the dust to settle and for the fire to cool

Gyan went into overdrive, dodging the larger meteors and detroying the smaller ones with his lance. After what seemed like an eternity, the meteors stopped flying. Gyan once again settled to the ground, with almost no damage done other than dings and pits in his armor.

"When my back is to the wall and my options run out, I'm willing to forsake my honor for a victory. It's a small price to pay in modern warfare, don't you think?

"Besides, what would you know about honor? Zeong and I have fought with all we had, while you cushioned yourself with your precious ironguards and energy buffers." Gyan deactivated his beam lance and leaned on it. "You're just like Gundam. If it hadn't been for his luna titanium armor, he'd have been destroyed long ago. You magic has become a crutch, a deus ex to fall back on when things don't go your way. A true warrior fights with all his heart and everything on the line, including his life. You, on the other hand, you slaughtered Zeong while you happily made yourself invulnerable to anything he could ever reach for."

Gyan began to turn away. "A coward such as that isn't even worth fighting."

My magic is a crutch. You are right. I have no honor. I have been forced to cast it asside to survive, and to compensate fo my natural disadvantages. I was lucky to make it past the age of 10 with the talents I posess. You do not have a childhood that haunts you night and day. I lost most of my friends when I accidenly was forced to use my talents to survive. People fear what they dont understand, but you wouldnt know about that would you? Can you imagine it? The looks of fear when you enter a room? Your family casting you out to fend for yourself when you are 10 years old , because they dont want to be known as the parents of a freak? How about people cowering when you rise a hand above your waist? Have you experienced those things? I should think not. How about seeing your friends die around you, you survive only because you cast an invisbility spell so your enemies didnt gang up on the mage?

I rose up against these challenges. Most people wuld give up and die, but I survived. I have become strong. I have no honor because if I did, I would be dead.

You call me a coward, I call myself a survivor.

Gyan laughed aloud. "You think you've had a hard life? You should try being a mobile suit in the middle of a war. I was created for one purpose, to kill the enemy. I never had a choice besides the battle, no MS ever did. I've seen comrades wiped out by enemy missiles because they were only a fraction slower than I was. I've been in the trenches, where rain and mud threaten your joints. I've been in space, where a single wrong move will send you hurtling to a slow, inexorable death as your power cells drain away. For years, I've fought the Federation because I was made to. I've seen MS who grew addicted to death and destruction, and continued in this fashion until they destroyed themselves. I've seen MS take injuries that would mercifully kill a human instantly, yet they had to stagger on through the knowledge that they were dying."

"Have you ever watched humans walk by and wonder what it was like to join them, and yet know you never could? I was seperated from the people I was supposedly fighting for my entire life. MS live hard lives, each and every one. They are designed to fight and die so that humans can live in peace. They try to fill us with their glorius concepts and wishes, but it only leaves us feeling more and more hollow with every step."

Gyan closed his eye. "I was with Kampfer during his final moments, after he'd been gunned down by Alex in a fight he could not have won. He had never enjoyed the battles of the war, had never believed in the cause of the Principality, yet he was forced to continue the fighting because it was his lot in life. There was no closure for him, no happy ending, only the fall of the black curtain we call death. He died never having lived. And I was forced to watch every second of it."

Gyan reopened his eye and fixed Alyrium with a glare. "So don't give me your sob story, because I've got plenty of my own, all digitally recorded and stored in my memory, never to leave me alone again. I've been forced to carry these memories with me, the only way that so many of my friends will be remembered. You might have been an outcast, but you have never been a tool, a device, a simple thing to use and cast aside when it breaks. That's what I've been all my life, a simple dog on the end of a rope. And I must always live knowing that if I break the rope, I will instantly self-destruct. Live with that over your head, and perhaps you will understand why MS like me hate those who will only fight from inside their protective coccoon."

You have suffered loss, as have I. At least the people who you serve and protect love you. At least they dont hate you because you are different.

You may be separated from them, and from the humanity that is righfully yours, but it is one thing to not know who you fight for, but it is another to walk into a tavern, and the very people whos children you rescued the day before run you out of town. We both have lived difficult lives. But I refuse to throw away my life for an abstact concept like honor. I use this protective coccoon, I am not ready to die. It is that simple.

You say that should you try and break the chain that holds you, you will self destruct. Would you like to be released from that chain? What is the mechanism that binds you? Perhaps I could even give you humanity.

"Love me?" Gyan snorted. "I've never even MET the people that I serve and protect. The only humans I've ever interected with are my superiors in the military, and they show little more than restrained contempt for the average MS.

"When a mobile suit has been through so many years of battle, as I have, they must find something to cling to. Those who don't, fall to the wayside as the war continues on. For me, I chose the honor of the fight. I put my life on the line so many times not for the people of Zeon, but for my own victory. Honor was my reason for living when no other presented itself. I swore that I would see my battles through for my own gain, my own victory. That 'abstract concept' became the sole thing that kept me alive.

"And as to the rope that holds me..." Gyan sighed. "It cannot be done. I remember one MS who tried to rewire himself, and died when he set off the bomb that we all carry inside of us. The circuitry leading to out main core passes through the bomb and creates a feedback loop. The core cannot function without the bomb in place, and the bomb goes off if the core wiring is disrupted."

Personally, I fight for the good of even the people that hate me. It may hurt me mmensly to see the parents of the children I have saved...shun me. But the looks on the childs fae when they see me, and know they will survive...makes me want to keep living.

Even the Mnister of Sin has a softspot for the Defensless and downtrodden.

"No." Gyan looked over to where his Zaku lieutenants stood, watching. "It would be gross irresponsibility for me to simply walk away and leave others to fight, even if it is one they did not wish for."

Gyan regarded the mage for a long time, then seemed to come to a desicion. With one rapid move, he reactivated the beam lance, fired his thrusters and flew towards Alyrium, spinning the lance above his head, he brought it down in a powerful thrust, burying the energy blade in the mage's chest.

as the beam saber buried itself in the mages chest, his web of contingencies went off. A telekinetic force, throws the beam saber away, out of his chest, the gund was thrown back, away from the energies that circled around the dying mage. The energies arond the mage, the energies of the multiverse, contained within him for these circumstances spiraled arund him, the arcane forces mending his shattered body, saved frodeath by the spells he weaves at the begining of every day(contingent ressurection, found in epic level handbook)

*staggers up gasping for breath* As I said, I am not ready to die. I do however, acknowledge your superiority in melee combat, and extend my bigbys hand spell in peace.* a small hand made of energy appears in front of the gundam in a handshake pose*

I would also ask...would your friends need any help in fighting your war.

Gyan laughed softly. "I didn't think you would let yourself die. I saw two possibilities. The first ended with your retaliation and my death. The second is what we are living now."

Gyan took the hand before him. "I could not simply walk away from this fight, after all, I had Zeong's honor on the line, as well as my own. It had to end decisively, and now, I suppose it has."

Gyan motioned to his lieutenants, who came and each took an arm, supporting him. "This war, the war between the Federation and the Principality will not end soon. Don't get yourself involved in this. There have been too many deaths, too many friends lost for me to ask yet another to risk his life, especially against one like Gundam. Good luck in all you do."

Gyan tunred to his aides. "Let's go." The three activated their thrusters and departed.

you hear as you depart. "I am only vulnerable in melee...I could join in your war, and the enemy would never know why the world was exploding around them...You feel as if a huge burden has been lifted from your shoulders. ". Run an internal diagnostic, youwill notice a certain explosive device missing, feedback loop remains intact. Whether you accept my offer, I give you your free will. Do with it as you will. Either way, the cycle of suffering must end. I said I had a softspot for the cast off and downtrodden...I meant it, and will fight in your war, with or without your consent. I would prefer with..."

*He teleports infront of you*

You are the first to defeat me in combat across the planes of existence. Since I was 20 years old. I find it refreshing to know a not unbeatable. I extnd my hand in respect and fiendship.*extends his real hand*
