Oh, great idea. Lets doom more planets. If they put down and land on one, then take off again, what do you think the Imperials are going to do? That's right, blow said planet to hell.Darth Servo wrote:Han could have done a better job in the situation though. Maybe land on a couple of sparsly populated or uninhabitted planets first to send the imperials on wild goose chases and they wouldn't be able to tell on which he'd dropped off Leia and the droids. But then again, maybe not depending on how good imperial sensors are.

The quote from the trilogy I read made it sound like Han didn't know that such anti-tracking devices were available, or were as good as the one Lando had. Maybe that's because of his experience with the Falcon.NecronLord wrote:Maybe the device hadn't been invented. Maybe palm sized trackers were very rare, after all, Obi Wan's fighter was the latest tech too.Darth Pounder wrote:If the HttE explanatuion is valid why dodn't jango have a surface checker? Surely you exude some caution.
While i'm not a purist like Cal, i have to say that some things in the EU like the fine edge surface scanner is a flawed idea. Hans arrogance is the most likely explanation.

What? I was under the impression that she knew about the weakness. She didnt know about the weakness, so the explanation that she was luring the DS into a trap so starfighters can kill it is idiotic.

Slave-1 had already taken off when Obi-Wan planted the tracker on it. Geonosis was his first stop, so it would have been his first chance to inspect the ship for tracking devices (if he thought of it). Of course, Obi-Wan was only a few minutes behind him, so it became obvious that he was being tracked as soon as he spotted Obi-Wan's ship.Darth Pounder wrote:If the HttE explanatuion is valid why dodn't jango have a surface checker? Fuck No. It was found by General Dondanna. She didn't have a fucking clue.HemlockGrey wrote:What? I was under the impression that she knew about the weakness. She didnt know about the weakness, so the explanation that she was luring the DS into a trap so starfighters can kill it is idiotic.

See my comments about Ferraris. Just because the tech is out there, doesn't mean he has it. In fact, it is explicitly said he doesn't have it. Further, the longer it takes to get the blueprints to where they can be analyized and a potential weakness found, the greater chance of another planet dying.HemlockGrey wrote:Mmmk. Ok, so I don't have a comparison. Thanks for the info, though.PainRack wrote: snip

IG-88/B planted a tracking device on Slave-1 while it was docked aboard the Executor. Fett noticed the bug but he let the droid to follow him.
He set up a trap with several ion cannons on Bespin. If you have the time look for the remains of IG-88/B in the scene when Chewie gets back C-3PO's part from the Ughnaughts.
Probably Boba installed the surface scanner device on the Slave-1.
