Planetary shield vs Ship shield
Would it make sense if a ship's shields could take more power than a planetary shield?
What's her bust size!?
It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!

Here are two answers that I could think of:
1: The planetary shield may require orders of magnitude more power. However, as a result of being "spread thinly", it may also have less deflective power per square metre than the warship.
2: The warship belongs to a civilization thousands of years ahead of the shielded planet - especially if the total power of its shield exceeds that of the planetary shield. Even having only 1% of the power would imply A> superior technology, B> an extravagant military budget, or C> a whopping huge spaceship.

Of course, you have to consider what the shield generator & projectors are mounted to.

you also have to consider the amount of energy that a planet vs a ship can put into the generator, as well as the size of the generator. Perhaps the technology exists to make a small generator, one that can fit in a ship, but it isnt as powerful as a bigger one, think supercomputer compared to a palm.
