Christian Music

Post by Superman »

Has anyone seen the commercials for Christian music? They usually feature some crappy band playing with their eyes closed. The audience has their arms raised (to God because we all know God is up), their eyes closed and it looks like they are about to orgasm or something.

Do these people really need this psycho drama in their silly lives? When I look at those people, I can't help but think "my god, get a hobby."

Anyway, how exciting can Christian music be? For crap's sake, every song is about the same freggin' thing! And some of these tards listen to that and that alone! Every song I hear on those commercials is "God is great...," "of all the kingdoms...." or "now is the time to worship him...!" At least with crappy types of music, like country for example, you get different themes or song subjects. Christian music is just the same crap to a different set of chords.

Well said, Kal-El.

It's like, you're a Christian? Fine. You listen to Christian "rock"? Ok, not too big a problem. You only listen to Christian "rock"? Uh...that's weird. You actually go to Christian "rock" concerts, know all the words to the songs, sing them with your eyes closed and your hand entwined in your friend's hand? Stay the fuck away from me.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Yeah, and then they start crying. You watch them sway in a trance and start to cry. They are really crying because of their sorry lives and their religion offers them a temporary escape.

You know, one time I watched that televangelist, Benny Hinn. He is the guy who wears a white suit, big golden rings, and has a bad comb over. Seriously, I hope God doesn't send people to hell for bad combovers because this dude is toast. Anyway, he was doing his revival and standing in front of a golden grand piano. A GOLDEN piano. With sparkles. When did preaching become a vegas lounge act? It's like Jesus meets Vegas or something...

I've seen that, an ad for some Christian R&B group, I thought it was hilarious. If it wasn't for the Christian church reminder at the end I would have thought they were ok, as there was no Christly thing during the ad.

lol, I found this site quite hilarious:

This is one of those deals for people who can't stand to listen to any secular music because their concept is of good music and bad music centers around whether or not it has a bad word in it.

I absolutely love that there's a Christian equivalent to "Eminem".

hahah

Good job, old chum.

Good god, why can't they just be normal? Is being NORMAL just too much to ask for these morons? Just listen to normal music like a normal person, ok? You don't have to waste all of your time and energy looking to "Christian" bands because they say "praise Jesus." Just chill out and listen to what sounds good. Jesus H. Christ, these people are screwed up.

Note the lack of creative names for the Christian bands as well... Oh yeah, and there's a supposed Rob Zombie 'substitute'

Nice strawman you have there. If the "musicians" get to spew tripe, so can we!

To be back on topic, did you hear about that one "Christian music" station called (And I'm NOT making this up) "The Fish"? WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!!?

Odd name, but, It probably has something to do with the fish symbol used by early Christian churches, you know, the outline of a fish, the one that you see on the backs of cars all the time. Or like the ones that say 'Darwin' in the middle and have the fish growing legs. I think those are quite funny myself.

How, exactly, is that a strawman? I said that this was going to be another Christian bash thread.

Evidence to my accusations:

That plus the apparent vision you have of all Christians seeing any type of secular music as 'evil' or 'wrong'. Jeez... If someone had said something about 'atheistic' music, you would be up in arms throwing a hissy fit.

I am just pissed at the Christian bashing that is happening here, so STFU.

Don't lay in so hard on Christian music. Much of the Western musical canon consists of Christian music.

At least there's not a Christian equivalent of Bathory or Celtic Frost! Ahh, nothing like Black Metal - one of the few musical genres which Christians only would touch with burning irons.

As for "Christian rock" - we all know who the music industry truly worship: Money!!

I wince whenever Christian music commercials show up on TV. There is still some reasonably good religious music being written. It just doesn't get into these collections because the writers write them for (GASP) hymnals, because they're intended to be used/listened to in the context of a church service.

GIA Publications has exclusive license on much of the better Christian sheet music that's been published in the last couple of decades (I was in the high school choir at my church for a couple of years, I know about this stuff), and they typically don't publish CD music collections for general consumption, so the groups that DO tend to pick up the dregs.

It would scare me, but then I've seen people doing strange shit like that for all kinds of bands.

Well, the CAS would simply blast the Mecha before they knew what hit them, that or our M1A1 Abrams tanks would be sending 120mm APDU and HEAT rounds into your mech, knocking it over with the impact and causing internal explosions, all before your Mecha knew that it was in a hull down position behind a ridgeline.

This thread is not suppossed to bash Christianity. It is to say "Are these guys sellouts, or what?" However, seeing the snarling of some of the rabid bashers, I see your point.

Too bad your CAS plane got blown out of the air by a beam rifle hit before it even gets a shot off - even the A-10's level of redundancy doesn't save you from getting a big hole melted through the center of the fuselage and right through your control runs (gotta love beam rifles that pack the same punch as a 12" battleship gun).

Yeah, you take one out, but the other 20 get ya still. And if that doesn't work, the HAB ICBM batteries will simply wipe your mecha off the face of the earth, or whatever planet we happen to be conquering at that time.

Meanwhile, the antiterrorist guys in powered armor sneak up behind Nathan F and slit his throat, preventing him from further hijacking the thread.
