I heard that Jean Claude Van Dam wanted to make a sequal to the street fighter movie. That is the single most horrible thing i have ever heard. Can anyone confirm this faster than i can ... im currently searching for where i heard it from last.

I knew I shouldn't have looked into this thread. Now I'll have to boil my eyes or something.

Doubtful. Street Fighter isn't a vibrant enough franchise these days to warrant a sequel.

I was amused by that movie, and how many bad action films think to show what the guards do when they're off duty? They even had a locker room.

Well, the original movie did set up for a sequel, I only hope we don't get those lame characters that came after SF2.

Not hardly, considering that a competent director is going to be handling Alien 5, and that he may even be resetting the continuity and/or making an alternate continuity.

There's a Raoul Julia joke here, but I'm not gonna say it.

That movie they filmed in Israel where it was obvious that Heston probably actually worked a day...maybe two tops? That movie sucked ass.

The last movie I saw of his that was on the verge of being good was the one with Dennis Rodman. If they would have left DR out it might have held up as somewhat decent even if it was ripping off stuff from the Prisoner.

Nah. His best movie was The Quest. It did what Street Fighter should have. That is, make a bunch of guys from different countries beat the crap out of each other. After all, that is the premise to the game(s).

Universal Soldier 1 was the best movie I with Van Dammit.
It also had Dolph Lundgren.

However the sequel sucked so much fucking ass it was like swimming in a septic tank.

Believe it.

This is a translation of an interview he did for a Belgian sports magazine, Sport et Vie. If it's true, then yes, Van Damme is planning to do a Streetfighter sequel.

Selected excerpts:
Yes we will be doing a sequel to Streetfighter. In my opinion, it is one of the finest movies of my career - lots of fun for everyone. It has [a] nice blend of action, comedy and even elements of the video game. We are casting now and some big names are interested.
True. I didn't like doing sequels before. I always wondered why the need to go back and play a character you already have. But in this case, it's a franchise that is begging for more. The computer games are still popular, so what's to say this movie wont be?. I've passed on Time Cop sequels, and Kickboxer 2, and Bloodsport because they were the same story. Its got to be different, you know, to get my attention.
My question is, what the hell is Van Damme thinking?

I'd have to go with Time Cop being his best movie. First because Mia Sara was in it, and second, because it wasn't just a Van Dame vehicle. The one he did with Natasha Henstridge was good too.

I still enjoy some of his older movies like Bloodsport and Cyborg (which is really bad) but that doesn't mean they are good. :D
