To me, this singlehandedly disproves the existence of a god.

C'mon, the Street Fighter movie wasn't that bad. Unless you'd actually go and watch it, it's passable.

It's on channel five this week it seems, I shall have to see it and compare to the fairly good first Mortal Kombat.

Hard Target and Universal Soldier were Van-Damn's best works.

Actually, according to imdb, they are making a third.

Okay, it's crap. Mortal Kombat (the first one) was actually fairly good, and it didn't pretend to be anything more than it was: just a tournament movie with good vs. evil dudes and otherworldy powers. And groin punch 8).

Street Fighter on the other hand, has a really stupid plot about world domination. And they wanted to put every single stupid character in it for no reason whatsoever, so they ended up putting some of the fighters as convenience store clerks or generic grunts (like the Indian guy, is some sort of soldier that doesn't do anything at all, like fighting or actually looking Indian as in the game).

I agree that the first Mortal Kombat film was very good (the fight between Liu Kang and Reptile is my favourite, and the song in that scene is great). I'd get the DVD if the sound on it wasn't rather poor (kinda sad when a VHS copy has better sound than the DVD).

But the second film was abyssmal. It's like everything that could have gone wrong with the production did go wrong: the scripting, the acting, the effects (does anyone thing a lot of the film just looked odd?). Just everything. Although it was kind of cool seeing Cyrax in it. :)

They aired both films one Saturday afternoon on TNT, and while I enjoyed watching the first, I had to turn off the TV about halfway through the second.

Street Fighter, however, was pretty lame. It should have just stuck with the tournament concept and not some stupid world conquest story.

I'd have to go with Time Cop being his best movie. First because Mia Sara was in it, and second, because it wasn't just a Van Dame vehicle. The one he did with Natasha Henstridge was good too.

I still enjoy some of his older movies like Bloodsport and Cyborg (which is really bad) but that doesn't mean they are good. :D
Which is exactly why Under Siege was Segal's best movie by far. It wasn't just a movie where he could shot off those fancy moves. Van Damme's older movies were pretty decent. Especially Universal Soldier and Bloodsport. You gotta love him kicking the shit out of the frenchies in Bloodsport. :D

I always start watching too late and miss out on the cyborg fighters :P
If anything was good about that movie, it was probably the character design and costumes... with the probable exception of Shao Kahn and Raiden :P
