I was simply responding to the question you asked. That's my answer to it. I'm well aware that you decided to buy the book legitmately.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Storm, I said I AM GOING TO RETURN IT.
Jesus, I'd expect a mod, of all people, to read through a thread before responding...

Am I the only person here that actually does that?
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Well you see Rob, I'm not a bastard, so I would have paid for it even if I did end up taking it.
Besides, they probably wouldn't let me pass this term if they found out.

I think you need a better definition of "victimless". Especially since everyone who would want to read that book in the future is made one of your victims if you steal it.Robert Treder wrote:*sigh* I'm so glad I don't ever feel bad about victimless crimes. What I would do is return the book. Then I'd steal it while it wasn't checked out to me, so that I wouldn't have to pay the fine.

Theft is theft is theft.
As a library user Id be very dismayed to look for a book only to find a person had stolen it. Librarys are there to share information freely. Really bugs me when people steal something that is provided essentially for free. Things like that discourage libraries from getting new books, and even force them to discuss user-pays systems of borrowing...ick
However Spanky, as you have decided to do the right thing, thumbs up mate. It sucks when there is something precious thats hard to obtain just seemingly waiting to be taken. But good on ya for having the will not to do it

If apathy could be converted to energy, Australia would have an Unlimited power source.
Personally, i would see how popular it was bye how many times it had been loaned out, if hardly anyone has checked it out i would pay the loss fee, and the library would get a new one.

In my library if a book goes missing they charge you the price the book cost brand new + 20%. This rule was brought into effect when every bastard in Belfast was stealing the newest Star Wars books as they came out. I personally never steal anymore. I stole once and i was caught. My dad beat the crap outta me and rightly so. Since then i get attack of conscience when i even think about stealing.
Well done Spanky you did the right thing even when it must have hurt to give such a priceless thing back.

Good call Spanky.
I doubt you would have enjoyed it as much as you will when you can get ahold of it legitimatly.
I'm betting that part of the reason they have that book in the first place is for some of the aspiring writers to look at.
