Space Balls is typified by a childish kind of humor, which in and of itself is not a problem, and can be quite funny on first viewing. I just don't enjoy watching that type of humor more then once.

Galaxy Quest on the other hand
... well lets just say I finally got it recorded from TV a couple of weeks ago (with danish subtitles; the price you pay for being a cheap ass that goes for the free meal I guess :D ).

I'd just like to say hello... I'm not making a good first impression, am I? Sorry.

Well, a friend of mine recommended this site if I liked sci-fi and debating. Well... I like sci-fi, and I like watching debates, but I'm not very good at debating myself. So, I'd like to learn how on this site, and just have some fun.

I'll confess, I like both Star Trek and Star Wars, equally. But I've read through the fights that have broken out around here over it, and I don't really like flaming, to anyone. So, for my first topic, I'll pick something that hopefully won't make anyone angry:

Which is your favorite sci-fi satire and why? "Space Balls" or "Galaxy Quest"?

I'm putting this here because "Space Balls" basically makes fun of SW, while "Galaxy Quest" pokes fun at ST. And, I don't think it fits anywhere else.

So... Will you cut me a little slack, being new and all? Thank you.
*Pokes with lightsabre.* Welcome, newbie. Feel the burn. And really, this does belong in Other Sci-Fi.

I'd go for Galaxy Quest, if only for the scene with the teleporter...

No way, Spaceballs transporters scene was way better then the one in Galaxy Quest. "Snotty Beamed me twice lastnight it was wonderful" followed by a back to front President Scroob exclaiming "Why didn't anyone tell me my ass was so big" Classic

The problem I find with Spaceballs is that the good scenes tend to be too short and the bad ones make me physically cringe. That doesn't really happen in Galaxy Quest.

Galexy Quest is up there with the funnyest movies ever. Of corse to really understand it you have to be a ST/SW fan yourself. If you are then it's really funny.

You know it. All of those rights you abide by as a citizen of your homeland (I assume America, but can't be sure) are lifted once you become an agent of the Gnomish Hordes. Kill whomever you want, whenever you want (the exception being Gnomish citizens); spy on who you want, whenever you want (excpetion being Gnomish Empire, we don't need treason here!), and theive from who you wish (again, outside of Gnomish territory).

You will be given the full use of any and all Gnomish technology neccesary to complete your mission. Should you be capture, your governent will deny any knowledge of your existance. You have the right to spy, steal, and kill without fear of law. You are Chief of Espionoge, Anget Fisher.

(To be) Chief of Espionoge Anget Fisher, what say you? Are you ready to join the Gnomish Hordes?

What are you fretting about? You've never done battle with the Gnomish Hordes. You are alive, after all.
