And by the way, please don't think that I like this fact. I'm just saying that's how it is.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

It might not rip off tax payers but I was really fucking pissed to find out that Athletes get priority registration over regular students with equal credits. That is bullshit. Why should I have to risk missing a class and spending an extra semester in school for some football player.

As to the 3.0 requirement Im okay with that. But for students who are not the best athletes I would like to see lunchtime sports and such offered. I found that in both HS and College I did better when I was getting regular exercise.

Most coaches are volunteers. Equipment is largely donated or paid for with a little district funding; there isn't a lot to buy in track.
Don't forget to also factor in the wasted cost of education for those who go to school only to play ball.
The school district would get the same tax revenue whether or not those people were in school. Of course, you also need to factor in the extra tax income from people who only stayed in school for sports, but now make more money because of it. Etc etc etc...
Again, if you and your teammates are playing sports as a secondary pursuit, with academics as your primary concern, then you will get no critizism from me. More power to you.
I wouldn't have it any other way. Neither would the coaches.

For the wrong reasons. University whorehouses would attract a lot of students too.

Parents wouldn't pay for their kids to spend four years going to whorehouses. There isn't this problem with football.

Whorehouses are just as educational as football. Maybe more so.

OK, but that doesn't mean parents would want to pay for their kids to go to whorehouses. It's the same reason Indiana has been trying to eschew their reputation as the #1 party school - because this drives parents away, and parents are the ones who ultimately make the decision and pay the money.

For big schools anyway. The CSU system in California is affordable on a P/T job as long as you work full time in the summers and live at home. Not the ideal college life, but affordable.
