The Achuultani fully expected the Hoof (Hoof of Tarhish, what they called Iapetus) to obliterate Earth's shield. I don't see why it would be much different with SW planetary shields.Captain_Cyran wrote: The main problem I can see the Achuultani running into is the planetary shields (Hey, when a planetary shield can take more then half of a Death Star blast before frying out that can be called pretty damn good.) After awhile though the Achuultani would learn...shoot projectors, shield go down, THEN throw moon. Something I am somewhat amazed to see, though not really, is the use of the Death Star against the Achuultani. To which the Achuultani take down with the first or second salvo of hypermissiles .

When they used Iapetus at earth, the 5ThI people observed it going at 500km/s, and accelerating. Its mass is 1.88e+21, so you can work out the minium Ke it would have.
Ke= 0.5* 1.88e+21 * (500*1000)^2 = ~2.35e+32 J
Which is in the same magnitude as the DeathStar.
It really doesnt matter about planetary shields, if they go splat against the Deathstar, then the same or any moon the Achuultani use.
Any corrections on the maths are welcome.

Directly from this site (here)the 2.1E32 joule lower limit for the energy of a Death Star blast

Okay, I know I already posted some basic technical assumptions at the start of this, one of them being Achuultani hyper missile capability within an Gravity Well Generator's field of effect. I also stipulated that hyper missiles would not provide one hit kills against Imperial shielding. Even if the shots completely ignored shields, every hit made by a hyper missile appeared to be a surface detonation on the target, and relative armor strength is in the Empire's favor.
The 10 gigaton warhead seems to be a constant from my recollection of the Achuultani/4th Empire Planetoid fight, but I may be mistaken. The main tactics are going to be the Imperials micro-jumping to get within their effective engagement range, while the Achuultani do their best to keep the range open, especially after they discover the firepower of turbolasers.
Bean, its not going to be 1 warship firing on 1 star destroyer, it will be at least 2000, firing full salvos, and with 400000 warheads going off, the target is certainly going to notice.

Achuultani ships hit with hyper launched gravitonic warheads were often described as crumpling in on themselves. If they had detonated on the ships' surfaces, the ships would have jerked to the side and been bent around the site of detonation. That they were not described this way suggests that the missiles detonated inside the ships. Granted, these were Imperial missiles; the only real difference is that Imperial hypermissiles contain their own hyperdrives, while Achuultani hypermissiles are launched by an external hyperdrive. I don't see how this could make Achuultani missile unable to emerge inside a ship.consequences wrote:I also stipulated that hyper missiles would not provide one hit kills against Imperial shielding. The Achuultani can microjump too... and they are used to this tactics.consequences wrote:The 10 gigaton warhead seems to be a constant from my recollection of the Achuultani/4th Empire Planetoid fight, but I may be mistaken. The only hope of the GE to get into range of the Achuultani is that they shot their magazines empty and have to use their lasers...
Yep... I don't want to do a calculation for a 4th Empire gravitonic disruptor, but they were much more powerful than the hyper missiles of the 4th Empire... and 16 Hypermissiles were enough to kill the Saturn moon Isapetus...consequences wrote:Oh, and the 4th Empire vs. the Galactic Empire would just be silly, the firepower disparity is to great.
