I lived in England for a couple of months in a hotel just outside of Lancaster Gate. I think I ate well once in all the meals I ate there. I literally dreaded mealtime. Not only is the food expensive in those parts, as it's rather touristy in the tourist season (if it's called "tourist season," why can't we hunt them?), but it's absolutely horrible. I remember ordering a steak cooked medium-rare, and when I got it, it looked as though they had doused it in kerosine, lit it on fire for about 30 seconds, then put it out again. The outside of the steak literally flaked off when I tried to cut it (and, for the record, they've never heard of steak knives in England. At least not in any restaurant I've been to. You have to ask for them, and the waiters look at you funny). I am personally of the opinion that meat should not have a crust, and the center of the cut should not be colder than your ice water. Both of which were the case.

After the meal, I swore I had contracted Mad Cow Disease. (Hell yes, I ate it anyway! That friggin' piece of meat cost me $15!!)

The way Europeans cook meat probably explains why stuff like that is so prevalent over there. Jeez, hasn't anyone ever heard of Well Done before on that side of the 'pond?

Well certainly not in France. My travels have taken me there more than once, and let me tell you how they like beef: Raw. If you order a steak done rare, they literally dangle it in front of a space heater for 15 seconds, put it on a plate, and hand it to you.

I forget what the dish is called, but I had this one meal that was literally raw horsemeat with a raw egg on top.

It actually wasn't bad. I like it raw.

New Variant CJD was contracted by 14 people in total last count. I'd hardly call that prevalent. This from a nation that has the occasional outbreak of botulism due to their eating habits.
Queeb. You eat at the wrong places. Again the country that invented KFC (kentucky fucked chicken) has no right to critisise anyone.

(PS First you complain that it's overcooked, now it's undercooked. Make up your mind!)

Fishing for sport is fun! So I do it. Not so much anymore though and I only fish for rough fish that need to suffer a huge population drop such as bullhead anyway, call it curtailing the invasive species. Crab fishin' is fun though, and it doesn't even hurt the crab unless u want to eat it. Just tie a string to a stick and on the other end of the string take a chicken or turkey neck. Pull it up, put the crab in a bucket, serve with fettucine alfredo.

One day though id like to go out and reel in a giant fucking swordfish though.

As long as it gets its chicken neck it really can't complain. But they are damn tasty, way better than that imitation stuff most people usually eat.

That was the name of it. For some reason I keep thinking that the word "tartar" refers to seafood.

But they didn't call it "steak." There was another word for it. Horsemeat is actually the traditional meat used in tartar dishes. Over they years they just substituted in beef. I think it was an old Gaulic tradition to not cook horsemeat, just shred it and eat it raw. I've heard tell that the dish originated on battlefields; when soldiers didn't have the time to cook meat, they would kill a lame horse and divide up the flesh. The flesh was then tenderized between two stones, and eaten raw.

I guess that's the only GOOD thing to come out of the French army. :)

Hey, if I was hungry, I'd fish. Not that I like fish that much.

Sport fishing though? What's the point? And the hook in the mouth has gotta suck.

Sport fishing is stupid. Why go through all the trouble of sitting around, doing nothing, staring at water for hours at a time if you're not going to get something to eat afterwards?
