Foolish Westerner! Once again, typical Captialist has made an underestimation. And once again, typical Captialist will pay for his mistakes!Alyrium Denryle wrote:Well now that you have entered the realm of roll-playing fantasy with the use of alter egos...

Just out of curiosity, Master...Darth Wong wrote: There comes a time in your life when you realize that most of what you thought in your teen years was wrong, at least when it comes to matters of the heart.
When I was a snot-nosed teenager, I believed that there was no such thing as love. I believed that romantic love was nothing but glorified animal lust, and that platonic love was just a way of manufacturing quid-pro-quo relationships which you could fall back on if you ever needed a helping hand.SolidSnake wrote:Just out of curiosity, Master...Darth Wong wrote: There comes a time in your life when you realize that most of what you thought in your teen years was wrong, at least when it comes to matters of the heart.
What did you believe in when you were a teen?
Wow, when did you say this, Lord Wong?SolidSnake wrote:Just out of curiosity, Master...Darth Wong wrote: There comes a time in your life when you realize that most of what you thought in your teen years was wrong, at least when it comes to matters of the heart.

And then you hit 50, your prostate gets bigger than your ego, you develop a hormonal need for a Miata, and you go back to thinking about women the same way you did when you were a teen.Darth Wong wrote:It isn't until you settle down, get a job, and live a stable life for a while without some Big Change on the horizon that your mind begins to sort itself out, and you can begin to earnestly contemplate those things which rushed unbidden through your mind in your youth.
Ideally, they're the same person.Tebrak'aun wrote:An interesting question posed to me about romantic love was "who would you choose the girl you loved the most or the girl who loved you best?" Now logically I know I should choose the girl who would love me best because that is the most mutually rewarding and sensible choice yet I know in my heart I would always choose the girl I love most.
Is that selfish? Or is it merely unimaginative and insufficiently observant? Its because for the majority of people me included romantic love is a purely selfish exercise we treat someone the way we think they should be treated not the way they want to be treated. We make sacrifices for them that go unasked, unwanted and unappreciated because having these things done for us would make us feel loved but we don't realise that it may not be the same for the other person.
Compare the films "Ghost" and "Always" to see two takes on that (I don't think conventional breakups are a good test, since a healthy relationship won't break up, so it's difficult to argue that true love existed beforehand).Surely true love would mean that at the end of a relationship there is no ill will no bitterness just a sincere desire that your ex finds the happiness and satisfaction you can no longer provide. But hey honestly how many of us havent had a relationship where our sincerest desire was to have someone come slinking back to us telling us how leaving us was the worst mistake ever.
