I can't vouch for all of Georgia, but I was born and raised in the metro Atlanta area and have lived in this area all my life...and I don't know anyone who is racist. In fact, this almost makes me ashamed to be a southerner...

To me, this is almost unbelieveable--"Don't these people realize the rest of the country thinks they're a bunch of donkeyfucking racists? Don't these people realize the rest of the country is right?" To my parents at my age, this would have been boorish, but nothing unexpected. To my grandparents at my age, this would have seemed the natural order of things--if the black kids got a prom at all.
