Now that I've calmed down a bit from some HoI, I can confirm that what Thirdfain says is correct. Allied combination of Spy Satallite and Harriers provide a huge advantage. Soviet tactical superiority is limited, when faced with an enemy which can track your every move, and strike you anywhere on the map almost instantly. The Soviets will crush those pathetic Chinese gattling tanks. Harriers suck! Always keep flak tracks placed well outside your base to eliminate them before they have a chance to drop their ordinance. If some do survive, the base flak cannons will handle them. The most damage they usually cause is their shattered wrecks crashing into buildings.Thirdfain wrote:Allied combination of Spy Satallite and Harriers provide a huge advantage. Meanwhile, a Siege Chopper can land well outside an enemies attack radius and bombard them to crap with its cannon. Move in with a dog/rhino combo to mop up and, well, problem solved.

Harriers are worthless for bombing an enemy base. For bombing enemy forces on the move, on the other hand, they are excellent.Harriers suck! Against an allied tank force with Tank Destroyers and Prism Tanks, with harriers to smite landed seige choppers, such a tactic is worthless.Meanwhile, a Siege Chopper can land well outside an enemies attack radius and bombard them to crap with its cannon. Agreed, an anti-tank bombardment CAN be devastating. But if you shoot them down on their flight out they won't come back when you send in the reinforcements (NEVER send your entire army in on one assualt).Thirdfain wrote:Harriers are worthless for bombing an enemy base. That's why you send the Terror Drones in first.Against an allied tank force with Tank Destroyers and Prism Tanks, with harriers to smite landed seige choppers, such a tactic is worthless.
Or, of course, a Rhino/Tesla trooper as cannon fodder while the Choppers contiune their attack.

I love the sound Prism tanks make when they blast Terror drones into tiny peices...That's why you send the Terror Drones in first.

Especially since the Allied player knows that your comjing, from what direction you are coming, and what you have with you.

Oh come now, one can produce and deploy Terror Drones (a measly $600) much faster than Prism Tanks (a staggering $2000); a Terror Drone rush can overcome most attacking tanks and hop on in.Thirdfain wrote:I love the sound Prism tanks make when they blast Terror drones into tiny peices...
And they are ESPECIALLY good when your enemy is on the move. Far from the base, and Drones ripping 'em up.
You don't need the element of surprise to mount a sucsessful attack. Heck, if a Soviet player is smart he'll scout the area around his base and know what's comign just as easily.Especially since the Allied player knows that your comjing, from what direction you are coming, and what you have with you.

absolutly true, but Terror Drones are melee fighters. Any self respecting Allied commander assures that the enemy attack has to come through a chokpoint to reach his base- and 5-6 Prism Tanks covering a chokepoint (with their AOE attack wiith HUGE range!) can effectively stop a limitless number of terror drones.Oh come now, one can produce and deploy Terror Drones (a measly $600) much faster than Prism Tanks (a staggering $2000); a Terror Drone rush can overcome most attacking tanks and hop on in.
Very true. That's where the allied advantages come into play the most- They see the entire map, so have the advantage in open-field maneuver warfare. They can avoid terror drones, or smash them with Harrier strikes. And they are ESPECIALLY good when your enemy is on the move. Far from the base, and Drones ripping 'em up.
that's true, but it helps to have the element of surprise. And keep in mind that an attacking soviet force will be hit by harrier strikes as soon as it leaves the base defenses- an Allied force in under no such danger. You don't need the element of surprise to mount a sucsessful attack. Depends on terrain, actually. Although chokepoints are critical for ANY base defense, when they don't exist (many maps) more broad defenses are neccesary (without turtling...); this the beauty of Terro Drones!Thirdfain wrote:absolutly true, but Terror Drones are melee fighters. Terro Drones move WAYYYY faster than all Allied vehicles - save the robot tank - so it will actually be a disadavtage to split up, so the tanks would have a harder time destroying them.Very true. Terror Drones on the move actually run past missles when they're fired from a Harrier. I've seen it plenty of times, they can barrely sqeek by.
Indeed, curse the Soviets lack of fast air-strikes (Siege Choppers machine gun is NOT effective, unfortunately ), but we get by. A player who brings the neccesary units into a task force - flak tracks - can make Harrier strikes VERY costly, and on most maps players get strapped for cash real quick.that's true, but it helps to have the element of surprise. And keep in mind that an attacking soviet force will be hit by harrier strikes as soon as it leaves the base defenses- an Allied force in under no such danger.
The cheaper Terror Drones are excellent for harrasing miners (although Allied miners gain the advantage of chrono-ing back to base and getting it removed). Plus, once an Allied task force is so far out from the base - they get hit with Terror Drones.

Whew, I finally beat lux in a USA vs. China, thanks to a radical change of tactics... it seems F-117s are not entirely useless, though for their price, build time, life, and damage they're not as useful as I'd like
