The Bioships destroyed 9 planets in 150 days, or .06 planets every day.

The Death Star destroyed 1 planet in 1 day.

Looks like the Death Star is at least 16.666...7 times more efficient in terms of planet-killing (not to mention raw power).

Here's a question: why isn't Sovereign just banned? He serves no purpose. He's not even entertaining.

The retarded subject matter reminds me of a thread going on at Spacebattles right now concerning the SPK vs. the DS1 or 2. There are only a couple of people in that thread that believe the DS could win!

One of these days someone needs to do a really good SW vs. B5 site. Evidently people can't put what Michael, Curtis, and Brian have done all together.

2? What other planet was destroyed? Last time I checked, Alderaan was the only planet destroyed by the DS. Yavin 4 was going to be destroyed, but the DS met its end before that could happen.

Also, if we look back to the 8 planets destroyed in 5 months thing, it is wrong. In that part of 'Scorpion', it shows a battle raging against several Cubes and Bioships. After that it switches to the shot where the Borg gives its battle report they say,

The Borg wrote:Species 8472 has penetrated Matrix 010 Grid 19. 8 planets destroyed. 312 vessels disabled. 4,600,021 Borg eliminated

This was 8 Planets destroyed in the battle where S8472 "penetrated Matrix 010 Grid 19" So it was 8 destroyed in one battle.

Doesn't it say somewhere in one of the film novelisations that the first planet to be destroyed by the Death Star was the planet it was built round? Or was it one of the EU things?

And something has occurred to me - might be one of those extrapolation taboos, I'm not too hot on the debating front, but it takes 9 8472 ships to destroy a planet (assuming that they didnt send more ships than it took to get the job done, and also assuming that they're using the minimum amount of firepower to create the chain reaction thing), then they are extremely reliant on each other, where as a Death Star needs no supporting ships save its attendant star destroyers and star fighters - although a grill on the thermal exhaust port wouldnt go amiss.

I know those are two pretty big assumptions, but the point stands, if the firing formation is broken, then the shot fails. AFAIK, there is no way to stop the superlaser save internal sabotage.

I did not assume anything of the sort. I said S8472 destroyed 8 Planets in one battle. I did not say it had to be the same 9 Bioships they showed at the end of the First part.

The Bioship that struck Voyager was damaged by the battle with 15 Cubes. There is no way of knowing how many Bioships there were, but this one was reported to still be regenerating.

Your personal interpretation. Nothing more. That dialogue could EASILY be describing their total losses (and thats precisly how most rational people interpret it) as the part about "penetrating Matrix 010..." could refer to the farthest 8472 advance.

Sovereign is an incredibly foolish little cretin. One of these planetkillers can casually swat away fleets that assault it, cross the Galaxy in hours, ignore the massive debris from planetary destruction, serve as fleet base, serve as fleet flag, and still have enough room to lose a small country in it. The other is nine ships that can be destroyed by the fucking Voyager, with complete morons on board, which are limited to Warp speeds. It's plain and simply, and thus obviously Sovereign is going to scream the Fuglies are superior.
