Tastes vary thus Eleas having not a great love of dune is all cool. I mean I probably don't like some piece of literature he considers absolutely great...hell I know if I spoke what I don't think is godly or worthy someone would more then likely hound me.
My problem with KJA and the Dune Prequels is that he pretty much does these things:
1. Ret-conned things that were detailed in the Dune Saga. I hate when anyone does this. Research your material if you're doing official work...don't just think you know it, find out everything you can because missing something like names of parents when the first book details thus is piss poor.
2. His version of drama is poor in that for me anyways I felt no tension, no anything...things just sorta happened. Their consistency with the current Dune-verse make little sense...these people who become to hate each other aren't adults but juveniles with little sense of true tension that would give the idea of why two houses despise each other. They reduce them to Atredies=Good, Harkonnen=Bad...no grey, no muddled sense. One is good and one is bad...with no real feeling behind anyone he's written or what they've created.
IF THIS WAS ONLY TRUE...

I actually am waiting for KJA and Herbert's asshole son to include the House of Ordos. The dune prequals couldn't be worse unless Beavis & Butthead wrote them.
Serriously, and i've asked this before, what did Sci-Fi ever do to KJA that makes him want to piss on every franchise thats actually any good? Did the Sci-Fi nerds at school shun him.

Oh, I know. All vintage KJA, to be sure. I mean, I say some pretty harsh things about Herbert, but at least he tried (and occasionally, succeeded). That's hardly something you can accuse KJA of.Ghost Rider wrote:Tastes vary thus Eleas having not a great love of dune is all cool. I'll grant you that the Butlerian Jihad was boring, and could have been written way better. I find it fun to read books about some of my favorite Sci-Fi universes. I know Stackpole isn't that great of a writer, it didn't stop me from enjoing I, Jedi, just because its an extension of something I like, and enjoy reading more about it.
