You can get Conways for 1922-1946 for less then 100 USD, and it tends to have better information.

) but what I should have said, was to stay up-to-date, like subscribe and receive a new Jane's every year would rapidly a) murder your wallet and b) cause structural collapse of any floor other than basement from the weight of the volumes

There's very little point to getting a Janes every year, they only get significantly updated every four years or so anyway. As it is, I got one for 1996 for twenty bucks once a newer edition was out.

One thing I just noticed leafing thru the old Janes was a shot of USS Hawaii being towed away for scrapping; I hadn't realized how complete she was (82%) when they disposed of her.
