Never muahahahaha.

Thrawn would surrender after he discovered that every ship in his fleet is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode at the very drop of a pin.

Thrawn wouldn't be able to hold off the invasion, but he could probably give the occupying forces post-invasion Hell and possibly convince the Empire that it's not worth their time or resources to try and secure the place. Maybe.

Read my numbers. 24 MILLION photon torpedoes. If the average ship was 4 orders of magnitudes weaker, that's still 2400 torpedoes. And even a Corvette can blast a Galaxy with a single broadside.

It depends how they are getting to the Milky way. If something like a wormhole, he might be able to use some blockade tactic and manage to close it...

Hello?

24 fucking million torpedoes to take down a 20 year old transport! A single ISD could smash through a blockade!

Well maybe the wormhole is just barely big enough for a corvete err, no thats to powerfull, um a small gunship to go through then ISDs wouldn't be a problem. untill the empire destroyed all the ships blockading the wormhole and built one on the other side, assuming they couldn't make the wormhole bigger.

Well, Thrawn would use loads of forbidden tech, if he was in command. Or send some ships through to distract the Empire for a few seconds... Actually, I withdraw my point about forbidden tech 'cause it's mostly useless junk anyway.

There are private corporations in Imperial space that could easily conquer the Federation, even if the Empire isn't involved at all. Hell, there are criminal syndicates who could do it.

I say he wins, you see, he surrenders the Federation in exchange for peace, the Federation then exists under the Empire's protection, all it's enemys either surrender to the Federation or are destroyed via the Empire, the Federation also gets new technology and is reintroduced to capitalism, i can't see how that can be called anything other than a victory :)

That's also a good way of winning. But, would the Empire accept, especially this offer from a non-human?

Thrawn would have two options, and neither of them involve defeating the Empire in open combat. Either A) he surrenders at the beginning of the conflict and tries to negotiate a deal where the Milky Way is a vassal of the Empire but with as much local autonomy as the Emperor is willing to give up, or B) he surrenders and goes underground to lead a guerilla movement. Option A is frankly the better one, because guerilla movements usually depend on the enemy not being willing to sterilize the surfaces of entire planets to root out terrorist cells.

There's no reason not to. Wars are fought for political or economic gain, not because of blood lust. An instant defeat is the best possible outcome for both the Federation and the Empire.

Well...

Don't forget, federation ships have those main deflectors that can do just about anything with the push of a button. I'm sure there's an Anti-Star-Destroyer beam somewhere in there.

And if Thrawn had Janeway, she can change history.

I think fed has a bit of a tech edge, but the Imps have faster FTL and vastly superior numbers, plus fighters to overwhelm.

But Thrawn always wins :P

Uh...I don't think they have a way to defend against several gigatons in one shot.

Phasers and those cobolt whatevers are in the giga-isoton range.

But no, not against large, massed assaults.

Remember, Voyager flew between a pair of pulsars at very close range.
