I lot of fridges have simple contact switches on the insides of the door. When you open the door, it releases the pressure and that triggers the light to turn on. I used to have a fridge that had very easily spotted sensors that could be triggered by hand.

Besides, arent we getting into Schrodinger's Cat territory here? I suppose I should let him out of my fridge, he's starting to get frost on his whiskers... (or at least he does when I open the door)...

Although, to get back on topic - recurring dream I used to get a lot as a kid, and still occassionally get even now, I'm walking down a country lane, in total silence (i mean, TOTAL silence, not even wind), then I go through a gate and I'm walking on the underside grooves of a whale (never figured that one out) in the same silence, surrounded by the ocean. Used to creep me out big time when I was small.

HAHA You guys have no sense of sarcasm. I was not being serious.

Anyhow, Talen man, I have to tell you that I have and have always had the STRANGEST dreams. You know, I am a funeral director and just the other night I had a dream that zombies had taken over the world and only I was left. The strange part was, at the end of the dream, I found a zombie playing a piano and told him to play "My Way." My girlfriend woke me up and said I was singing... I didn't even try to explain that one.

I also have dreams of flying. It's strange, when I dream I seem to realize that I can fly so I do it all the time.

I have had lucid dreams too. When I was a child, I dreamed I was a pirate and I would even tell the other pirates to come back when I went to sleep the next night. It usually didn't work, but that is odd.

It's pretty easy to test to see if the light turns off when the door is shut. Just use a video camera.

I was half sure you were sarcastic. but one can never tell at sdnet.

I dream of being the dead. broken neck, walking around. lying next to decaying bodies. unable to move under a wraith's gaze. whatever.

I dream of falling too. but that is common to most people.

Yes, falling is totally common. You know, there is an entire school of dream analysis in my psychology course. I have to say that I don't subscribe to it, and it is highly unscientific.

Freud would have said that falling in a dream represents insecurity. Almost like you literally feel as if you are out of control and "falling" in some aspect of your life.

Dreaming of being part of the dead would be viewed as a bad sign. Something like you literally feel as if you share some characteristics with the dead.

Again, I think dream analysis is BS. I think it's just a side effect of the brain activity when you sleep.

I've had the same nightmare since I was little

I'm in a dark brown forest, my vision is fixed to look in a certain direction, and I can only move to my left or my right

I have to move reeeeealy slow and quietly, for if I make any noise, the whole scene changes to a rocket still on its launchpaud which makes a terribly jarring explosive noise

I also get falling dreams all the time~ what's bad about it is my body physically reacts to the perceived landing and I get jarred pretty badly when I wake up

A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Ive had one repeating nightmare for. . . 3 yrs now. Im in my room, I know its a dream, its dark, I cant move, and there's a prescence standing before, shadowed. feeling helpless is very unpleasant.

course, a dream that scared the hell out of me at the time but rocked when I look back on it, involved me, 500 dwarves, 2 sleeping dragons, an undergound city including art museum, and a lot of sneaking.

then it turned into an amusement park o_O

My favorite from years ago was being chased by one variety or another of horrible beast. I'd wake up, get out of bed and turn on the light...only the light wouldn't work and after I'd flick it a few times I'd realize I was back in the dream again and it would pick up where I left off (or worse, a few times -- my favorite was the giant mosquito and my realizing I was still dreaming just in time to feel it perched on my arm sliding its giant proboscis around underneath my skin). I'd go through two or three cycles of that before I'd wake up for real.

Haven't had that in years though, mostly because of improved sleeping habits and mental health. Now I only have a bad dream once every six months or so and it's usually about an ex-girlfriend, so I wake up sad and pissed off more than frightened. Well, usually. There's a couple of 'em that were just scary. :)

Here's something that might help, BTW. I could sense when a bad dream was likely to recur and I'd turn on the radio at very light volume. I could sleep, but something about the normal everyday voices and sounds kept my subconscious from getting too wrapped up in its own bullshit again.
I don't know if that'll be even remotely useful for anyone else though.

Things that go “bump” in the night
Should not really give one a fright
It’s the hole in each ear
That lets in the fear,
That, and the absence of light!

One dream I often have is that I am fighting someone/thing and though whatever I'm fighting isn't able to hit me no matter what I do I can't hurt them. But most of my dreams are architectural more about the building and landscape I'm moving throuh than anything else.
Oh yeah and sometimes I get a dream where I'm running from something then trip, fall and I always wake up with a start wondering where the fuck I am.

this one was a bad one. I currently have every light on in the house, a large knife next to me, and a bunch of munchies to keep me awake.

the chances of this dream coming true are next to nil. that hasnt stopped me from preparing.

I dont remember much of it, been up too long for that. but if the lights go off, bad things happen. very bad. you look to your watch and you see it is moving backwards, and you know horror is beginning. is that noise just the house settling, or is something arising that should have remained buried?

break the watch, lock the chain again, and they might go away. or the lights may go out, and you can see their faces for the first time.

You could see a shrink or a dream interpretor... it might ease your mind, or possibly fix it, if its a problem for you. The majority of my nights are just black and then i wake up. Unless im having girl troubles, then i have nightmares every now and then.

...and if all else fails, try to have fun in your unconciousness, if its like a s cary movie, some like scary movies ^_^ ..

I usually dont remember my dreams. I die in a lot of them, usually by accident. The last one I remember was me on a 18th century battlefield, watching as my army was slaughtered by Napoleons troops. Then fleeing through a snowy forest with my bodyguards as french cavalry pursued us.

In another dream I was a zeppelin pilot from Crimson Skies, and crashed into a mountain, everything was in chaos all around me, and the the captain (Patrick Stewart) started yelling at me. It sucked.

My dreams vary as thus.

1. Mundane marriage/normal dream. My life as is except married...to whom varies, but I'm married.

2. Nasty ugly hunter/killer dream where I'm basically hunting or hunted by something, ends very violently

3. Bizarro armageddon dreams...usually filled with all sorts of bizarre imagery that makes no sense.

4. Dark stuff...these I hate because they start out like Mundane normal, take a twist onto the truly evil(what if all those little vengance things we think off, we make for real...ever bad notion...etc). Those scare me because they are just a colder look into myself at times, and honestly quite ugly.
