I posted on Spacebattles awhile ago that the Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps (of God Hates Fags infamy) are coming to Pittsburgh to protest. To recap, the reason his group of morons are coming is because Fred Rogers is having his memoral service tomorrow at Heinz Hall. Now, what could Phelps beef possibly be with Mr. Rogers, who was one of the few genuinely good people in the world and all of us (in Pittsburgh and abroad) grew up with him? He helped children deal with hard issues, taught children that they were special, was a Man of the Cloth, worked with dozens or charities and organizations, and was doing it for decades. But appearantly, throughout his career, he never used his position to badmouth homosexuals. That was their beef with him. So tomorrow, their ministry is coming to Pittsburgh, to protest in front of two churches and on the University of Pittsburgh campus, to protest Mr. Rogers.

I mean, goddamn, how stupid are these people? Two of their locations are on the marathon routes and tomorrow is the Great Race that we we hold every year to clog traffic. Everyone is going to see them. I don't know if it's like this in any other city, but Pittsburgh is Fred Rogers country. Everybody loves Mister Rogers here, and I mean that literally. I swear, the man is held as a saint around here, which may be a true, since he was as good a man as anyone could be. And these scumbags are going to come here and protest him for not being a bigot like them? That isn't just dumb, that's dangerous. I know for a fact that there are several counter-protests ready and I wouldn't be suprised if some people might do something that Mr Rogers would really not approve of to them.

I plan on attending one of their counter-protests, because for my own part, I don't want some scumbags coming to my city to badmouth one of the few truly good people. And I'll leave behind the balloons filled with acrylic paint, too. Mr. Rogers wouldn't have liked it.

Jesus H. Christ doing blow and huffing paint, I can't believe this. Fred Rogers has contributed much more to the world and made the lives of millions of children happy, and a worthless sack of vaginal discharge mixed with curdled semen like Fred Phelps thinks that he is a Bad Man for failing to share his burning hatred of homosexuals. I almost cried while reading that. Seriously, I grew up with Mr. Rogers, and the fact that little impressionable children are going to see these pamphlets is just too much for me to bear. Mr. Rogers doesn't deserve this.

Ah, Mister Rogers is apparently evil for not being a hate-filled lunatic like Phelps. I don't know why Phelps hasn't had some charges brought against him over the years, as his hate is more than obvious.

As for that God Hates America site, I found this to be amusing:

I've come to the conclusion that Phelps doesn't truly feel the way "preaches", this is all just a scam for him to file frivolous lawsuits.
I really hope that a violent tempered Mr. Rogers fan goes beserk on his worthless ass tomorrow. That would be beautiful.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that was a badly done satire. How can anyone actually agree with the shit Phelps keeps spewing from his mouth.

When I was little, I loved watching Mr. Rogers. It was my favorite show. Seeing that flyer made me wish I was over there to throw a few ballons myself.

Make sure you use model paint (the kind that requires the use of thinner to remove) in those balloons. If it was within driving distance, I'd be there too. Shit, I'd buy up a bunch of plastic easter eggs, fill 'em up with oil and throw them too. They'd have a hell of a time charging me with anything since they wouldn't know who I am.
