To comment on an earlier comment:

I've seen the Hidden Fortress, and some concepts and character sketches bear some similarities with Star Wars (Obi-Wan, Princess Leia, R2 & C3pO, looking for hidden gold/death star plans = hidden fortress/hidden rebel base, etc) but it bears more striking resemblances with Dune, Flash Gordon, and many others in more respects.

There's the whole King Arthur bit, the bible bit, the heroic journey, etc etc

Back to what you were talking about. ; )

Well I guess if they're going to turn Jaina into a man then the lack of a beak is really the least of ur problems with the cover though ja?

What was the deal with the Vong masquerading as th Siss-Rook in the end?

It's obvious, the Vong have been following the tactic of Divide an Conquer, in order to butter up the Ssi Ruuk prior to an invasion.

That way the Ssi-ruuvi are an easy target for destruction along with the Chiss.

I thought the twists and turns were good, but I'm surprised none of the people listening to the ritual got what was going on.

The ceremony was conducted in the P'w'eck/Ssi Ruuvi Lanugage. no one except Threepio understood. And if you recall Truce at Bakura there was no translation availiable to the Bakurans except through Threepio and R2d2, who apprently did not share that information with the Bakurans. there was also the Chaos of the bomb going off that really made things hard to pay attention to.

Not too bad a book. The Jedi on the cover sucks ass, but I think the lack of a beak could be explainable if that is a Pwek, and not a ssiruu.

Nicew confirmation os the size and scope of the UR, and I like the ending reminder there when is states that YV taskforces they bypassed Chis space to go deeper into the UR were never heard from again. Since Jag compared some of the forces in the UR to the Yevetha, I really want to know who those forces are.
