I get depressed unless I keep myself distracted with either shiny things or Family Guy...

I don`t remember those but here`s two words to convince you the 80s had good things too.

Gotta love the eighties synth pop...and films where you see new york or somewhere and there's that colour between pink and purple on people's clothes...plus the neon sign and the punks of the time.

enough 80's nostalgia...i depressed without any real triggers...i can also be happy...or extremely annoyed....depressed or calm happiness most the time though.

I get kinda sad and maybe a bit depressed at times, but then I look back on my life and remember how much more it sucked in the past and how I almost commit suicide on a couple occasions. And then I realize that I'm living a life that many people would kill for, and then it's like "fuck it", and the sadness/depression quickly passes.

The worst time for me was a few years back when I got a nasty concussion and suffered lingering after effects for months. It was quite a downer dealing with the fact that I was now that much dumber, and that there were some things I could do in my sleep before that I could no longer do anymore, and that I no longer had what was needed to continue studying in university, which meant the life I'd planned out with such care was fucked. I recovered mostly in time, but for almost a year after the accident I was going through a nice cyle of anger/pain/depression/worthlessness and I was all over the place.

Parents put me in therapy but realized after a couple sessions that it wasn't helping and just pissing me off more and making things worse, so I just took a part-time job and slowly worked through things over beers with my best friends. It took a long time but I was eventually able to come to terms with things and adjust to my new limitations, and after a year off I went back to university on a part time basis, which is about all I can handle right now.

Wheeeeee!!!
I grew up in the eighties too, and all I know is that growing up in the 80s makes you have a love of the Thundercats, He-Man, and the A-Team and a burning hatred down to the pit of your stomache of Barney the Purple Dinosaur and the Power Rangers (because they were a rip-off of the beloved Voltron). Whether this makes us more happy, I don't know, but I can however recite the theme of the original Tranformers cartoon from memory. :)
Transformers. More than meets the eye.
Transformers. Robots in disguise.
Transformers. Autobots wage the battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons.

DIE, AUTOBOTS!!
Dont tell me you all have forgotten the Mighty Orbots!

Ive struggled with depression since my late teens and all adulthood. Most of the time, it is mild. But there have been a few times when it has impacted my life with my friends and at work.

I've been depressed (ranging from mild to severe) for the last 4 years, following my parents' break-up and my mother getting cancer (plus the usual teen stuff). I hit 2 or 3 lows. My mother passed away March 23rd, so one of those lows was/is pretty recent. I'm hoping it'll pass now if I can start living my own life.

WHEN in 1984?
July 17. Not that it matters. It's still the first half of the 80s...

Yeah, I get depression spells. They tend to strike randomly. Usually something really small sets them off, and it'll snowball into me dwelling over all the current pieces of shit in my life for hours on end.

Then I watch an episode of Family Guy, and I'm all better. :)

If I get depressed it is not for long; an hour or 3. I usually bounce right back out it.
