Ok, Mike:

I say Give it to Ted C or Sean.

My reasons?

1.) They're Babtech staff.

2.) They deal with SB Fivers far more than I do, or most people whom I can think of do, and deal with them quite effectively.

3.) They deserve something to renew their faith in B5 after having dealt with some of the aforementioned rabid Fivers (in this instance, I am thinking of Adarx and Elizar/Dark Lord. If anyone has seen the 'logic' of one or both of these two, you know what I mean.)

Barring that, give it to Andrew Tse, since he's a B5 fan, he's a babtech member, and he's part of the group Mike :P

Where's ernest and does begging there versus elswhere really help?

DECISION TIME

I have seen many contestants, many compelling arguments, and much ass-kissing :D OK, let me run down the list of contestants whose arguments jumped out at me:
  • Thirdfain was the first one to respond, and he's a young man who needs to impress a young woman.
  • SirNitram makes an excellent point; his significant other is a female B5 fan who's also a member of this board.
  • Wicked Pilot is by far the most shameless sycophant in the entire group. His "I Love Canada" animated flag and giant sig came as a surprise :)
  • Brian Young is, of course, an excellent choice, except that he already has them.
  • Vympel suffered horrible gastroentiritis.
  • Ando is strange.
  • Nova Andromeda's sister says she'll hang around here if she gets it.
  • Aerius and Ted won't require any shipping costs.
  • The various Babtech staff members are hardcore B5 fans who I've known for a long time.
So, now I must cut down the list. First, and for purely selfish reasons, people who are on the other side of the globe would create much higher shipping costs, so I'm picking somebody nearby. Second, giving it to people I've known for a long time somehow seems unfair. I know that sounds odd, but what can I say: it's a contest, and I shouldn't just give it to the person I already know the best. Third, Aerius and Ted would save me shipping costs, but neither did a particularly good job of showing their devotion as B5 fans. And fourth, Nova's sister, while she offers an interesting bribe, is an unknown quantity on this board.

So it comes down to Wicked Pilot, SirNitram/LadyTevar, Thirdfain. All three live in CONUS, and all three demonstrated strong levels of devotion to B5. Of those, Thirdfain lives closest to me and is hoping to impress a girl, Wicked Pilot demonstrated the strongest fandom, and of course, the lovely LadyTevar is a member of the board and a B5 fan.

So now we need a tie-breaker, and for that tie-breaker, I choose ...

PATHOS!

Who is more pathetic? Well, LadyTevar and SirNitram are out, because they have each other. When you love someone and that person loves you, life is good. Unfortunately, this also means they lose big-time on the pathos meter.

This leaves Wicked Pilot and Thirdfain. Both are single. Both are obviously devoted fans. Both are young and without much money. WP is serving in his nation's military, and Thirdfain is hoping to impress a girl: something that I and every other man can remember and identify with.

So who wins the pathos contest? Believe it or not, I had some serious trouble deciding on this. I considered tossing a coin. But in the end, I had to go with ultimate pathos, and say it's ...

WICKED PILOT!!

While I would have liked to send one set to both of them, I only have one set to send. And when it comes down it, from Wicked Pilot's other posts on the board, it appears that he is "without female companionship at the present time". Thirdfain, all of us men know what it's like to be in your shoes, but since you're taking this girl to the prom, this means you officially have a girlfriend right now. I would love to be able to help you impress one of the rare girls out there who's a sci-fi fan, but as WP has no girlfriend, he must win the pathos contest (not to mention the abject grovelling contest).

And with that, the contest is closed. Thank you all for coming. Refreshments are in the back, the drunkenness and public disorder may now commence.

-BTW, where would a single female fit on the "Who is more pathetic?" scale?
-If you have master (a cat) or a servant (a dog) would that affect your position on the "Who is more pathetic?" scale?
-Congrats Wicked Pilot! Be sure to enjoy B5 enough for all of us!

Thought that I'd post this anyway and give people some, but not too much, of an idea of what I'm like,

As high school Valedictorian, I was told to submit a "senior quote." Basically a quote that would go on the back of the program. So I researched for some time, attempting to find some insightful, interesting quote. My research quickly led to the exclusion of anything outside B5, and eventually to the submission of a B5 quote (what else!). The administration gestapo then informed me I must submit two more quotes. So I submitted two more quotes, also from B5, which upset them no end, being boring high school administration types with no imagination and nothing more important to do than quibble over meaningless ceremonies where everyone wears funny hats. As a result of this rather amusing experience, I have quite a collection of B5 quotes. My favorite was Ivanova's demonstration of human sex to Correlilmurzon in Acts of Sacrifice:

"Boom! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Boom! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Hey there, hey there, three bags full, you come here often? Yes, I do! Dinner shubba-lubba-lubba. Drinks shubba-lubba-lubba. Kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss GRAB. How do you like it so far?
'Well, I...'
'I slept with you the other night, you didn't call, you didn't write. I think you did it just for spite! Oh...yes...oh, yes! Oh yes! Oh! YES! Tell me about your portfolio! Oh yes yes yes YES!! Lie to me about your family! Oh yes! Oh Yes! Oh YES! Yes yes yes YEAAA! Oh! Oh...Oh...God you're good'
'What do I do now?'
' Old stlye, you roll over and go to bed. New style, you go out for pizza and I never see you again'
Look forward to the day when you have cleansed the universe of your enemies and carved their bones into flutes for your children to play

Pure Sweetness. I'm getting something for free from a man from another country whome I have never met. This is like the time the King of England called me up on the phone and offered me HMS Invincible for nothing. Well, maybe not exactly just like, a B5 S2 DVD set is much better than that peice of rust.

Anyway, thanks a million and a half Mr. Wong! One of these days when I'm actually making money again, I will make sure to repay the favor.

And uh, about my 'I Love Canada' sig. It's gonna have to go, I'm sure the 56k users aren't too fond of it. But I will leave it here on this post in earnest.

I LOVE CANADA!!!!!

Congradulations. I hope you enjoy it. Season 2 is my favorite. I like the suspense and conspiracy theory stuff. I was almost disappointed when things came out in the open later in the series. :)
