The rest of this goes against the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Any and all suggestions or proofs that the United States is a Christian nation is nullified completely and absolutely by this single amendment, no ifs, ands or buts.

Oh, and for the record, I'm not arguing that America is OFFICIALY a Christian nation, or that it ever was.

My point are two:

1. That you can prove either side with a list of quotes. My list was no more conclusive than the one which started this thread - and no LESS so.

2. America WAS, and largely is though at an ever declining rate, a Christian nation - not governmentally or officially but CULTURALY.

The official position of the First amendment has no bearing on the nature of the overwhelming cultural reality.

I know that fact burns you pagans up, but hey, hold on, things are mvoing your way. If you live long enough.

Unfortunately - which is mostly because of the propagation of European colonization which almost totally eradicated Native American belief systems.

It's funny; no matter how many times you point out that a Christian would NEVER bad-mouth the Bible the way those quotes do, this person persists in screaming that you can simply makes those quotes vanish by finding quotes in which the person praises the Bible. Rather than take contradictory quotes as evidence of a double-life, this person would take the quotes he/she likes, and simply pretend the others never happened.
