I liked the episode. Something struck me, though. No one on Enterprise died, and the Borg were indeed just as evil and ruthless as they were on TNG. I think that the Federation should take lessons from 22nd Century Starfleet humans on how to survive in space. Think about it. To my knowledge, not one single crew member has died yet on Enterprise, and this episode put several of them in great danger.

^ This is before they built the Redshirt replicator. Once Federation science built it, they no longer need to worry about keeping their crewmen alive in space. They just requisition a new batch and voilla.

Prehaps this is how the Federation will gain some technology. They could observe the warp drive and finally start on their way to breaking the time barrier. Who knows. Prehaps even the laser weapons used by the Borg will get the Federtion to mingle with the technology for a few years, thus giving Spock's statement about laser weapons being used in the Romulan War some vilidaity.

I still had a big problem with the fact that Starfleet has knowledge of the Borg. Discount this Episode and the first time the Feds have any knowledge of the Borg was from the El-Aurian refugees in the late 23rd century, but it was just dismissed as rumors and hearsay.

Although it does give us the reason why there was a Borg Cube heading towards Earth in QWho?

Okay, I just watched it myself. Admittedly, I really enjoyed it, despite the "Starfleet know about The Borg" continuity problem.

The one thing I really enjoyed about it was one thing I've said all along, why don't they just rip out some wires and nicely fuck them up? When Archer did this on the Borg freighter I couldn't help but think "YEAH! GO ARCHER!" and once again when Reed clinsman dived the drone, hehe.

Good episode, if they keep it up in this fashion and stop fucking-up continuity then 'Enterprise' might become a worth-while thing to watch regularly. But we can only hope.

Personally I'd like to see some review episode where Archer and the command staff are interrogated by a group of men in dark suits from the Earth government, who as they're leaving at the end say, "Now Captain Archer, I'm sure you and your crew understand that none of this ever happened" A Federation coverup might help to eliminate some of the continuity problems.

Hey, I wonder if 'Enterprise' will herald the birth of Section 31.

Ah, everyone knows the Borg are going to come back on another episode of "Enterprise." They even set it up.

Yes, ripping the wires out of their heads was pretty cool. And it sure as hell makes more sense than to try to engage them in physical combat (even though the Borg, enhanced strengh and all, seem to go down by Worf's rifle strike).

B&B, take notes..
I agree Ent isn't a prequel to proper Star Tek its a parrel universe caused by the borg time travelling. Like in the TNG episode "parells"
but isn't it TERRAN empire?

This is a parallel universe, not a mirror.

Even if they didn't know there name, they still should have been recognized somehow from the description....
It was a single, isolated incident involving a species that would not be encountered again for another two centuries, and it occured just a few years prior to a major interstellar war (the Earth/Romulan conflict described in Balance of Terror) and change in government (from United Earth to the Federation.) Records get lost buried, or simply forgotten in time.

Well, just watched it, and I have to say, I was really pissed off by it... you know, not everything in Star Trek has to begin with Enterprise, I mean, they made references to the Binar, we had Archer claiming credit for the beginnings of the Borg Invasion, we had Malcolm once again magically coming up with the right firing combination, it was terrible, even the holographic bullet reference made me cringe, it had no place being there and it did not amuse me one bit.

As an episode, it had no real focus, no real plot and for me, no real enjoyment factor - even in at the end of voyager, when the Borg was the only possible plot left, even then, I still enjoyed them because they were still the Borg, no matter how much technocrap Janeway pulled out of her ass, they were still the Borg which started with Q-Who.

I think I finally know what the real crime of Enterprise is, it is so desperate to prove that it is Star Trek, that it forgets that Star Trek did not begin with Deep Space 9.

A poor episode, a poor series, and a wasted 45 minutes.

Master of Ossus wrote:Wasn't it always a plot-point from TNG that Q brought the Borg on the UFP by introducing the two groups to each other early? I don't understand how to resolve the two. That being said, it was a well above average ENT episode.
As much as I hate to say it, I think that could be resolved this way: Q knew the Borg had advance knowledge of Starfleet, so Q threw the E-D into Borg space to even up the odds a little.

Of course, if Q hadn't thrown the E-D into Borg space to begin with, the events of First Contact and Regeneration would never have happened, the Borg would never have been on their way, and...

In the end, we're left with a Terminator- style time loop.
