A fetish is, by definition, an abnornal attachment of erotic feeling to an object or bodypart.
I would think shoes, rubber, or underwear are less obvious than feet, or breasts for that matter.
You have just asked for a logical reason behind an illogical extreme of TASTE.

Most often fetishes start out as an event or object that the perv assosiates with an early sexual experience, and masterbation reinforces the connection of the object/bodypart and sex.

I do not understand why people say that feet are one of the most sensitive areas of the body. Feet quickly become callused, and have a thick skin covering that makes them relatively insensitive to physical intrusions (which is why it doesn't HURT to walk around on them). I'm sure there are far more sensitive body parts than your feet, and those other parts would have the benefit of not being wrapped in socks and shoes all day, for maximum sweat trapping.

The heel and ball of the foot are fairly insensitive, true, but a woman's arch is exquisitely sensitive - for that matter, a man's, too. If you doubt me, step on a rock - make it a good sharp one, but not sharp enough to break skin with your full weight. First with your heel, then with the ball of your foot, and then square in the middle of the arch. Third one hurts a lot worse than the other two, doesn't it?

If that doesn't convince you, have Rebecca tickle your foot using the same pattern (in fact, you may wish to have her do this instead of using the rock methodology - it's certainly more pleasant in any event). I guarantee the arch is going to tickle more than the other two parts.

The arch of the foot doesn't get touched a lot, so when it does, your brain tends to sit up and take notice.

It's still less sensitive than many other parts of the body. Try doing a palm-stand on a rock and you'll hurt worse than if you did it on the arch of your foot. A light touch on MANY parts of your body will give you the shivers.

The arch and the areas between and at the base of the toes are all quite sensitive despite this. I can't see why my feet would be significantly different from anyone else's.

Good shoes with good arch support will put a lot more load on the arches and these will become somewhat callused as well.
