Then again, Fundies like women to be sex objects that can't be viewed or seen, just hidden in the house to be played with in the bedrooms at night.
Actually, they don't, they're hypocrites who say sex should only be done for procreation, then go home and jerk off to porn at the first opportunity, and no this isn't being a hypocrite they say, it's just "failing before god"

Because you haven't gone in depth. Some people may think that way, but you're painting with a pretty broad brush. And in a thread displaying the worst of fundamentalism, did you expect someone to come in and defend the people quoted?
Azeleys wrote:Why do I get the impression that you people are of the mindset "What the fundie believes, all followers of that religion believe?"
We've got a few me-too n00bs who like to shit all over Christianity because they think it'll make them fit in, but I don't know how many times most of the athiests here have recognized the difference between moderate and Fundamentalist Christianity. And Frank's right--in a thread about the scary fundie quotes, how do you think people are going to feel towards religion?

I guess at this point in my life I shouldn't really be surprised by the inability of most atheists to distinguish between fundie ideology and enlightened spirituality.
It must be all that bitterness and contempt that is common to their nature.

Once again I'm a victim of my own better nature. I was going to flame you in my previous post, but then I thought, "No, he's a n00b who probably just got a bad impression of this board from somewhere--give him a chance to learn." But as it turns out, you're a bigoted little shit who deserved no such courtesy.

You've only confirmed my view. In this time of hatred and persecution of theists, I am proud that I am brave enough to remain firm and never doubt my convictions.

This one makes it abundantly clear, as clear as your flamebaiting.
"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."

In my defense, I show no hostility to anyone who is a good person regardless of religious beliefs, or lack thereof.
I am only inimical to those atheists -- and even those theists who preach the wrong message -- who show contempt for me and my fellow brethren for having faith.

What a neat little trap you've set, huh? You accuse athiests of being bitter and full of contempt, and when one takes offense at yet another bigoted thiest making generalizations about him, you take it as proof that athiests are bitter and full of contempt. And now I see you've posted some platitudes to Frank about how you really do love everybody who respects you, so when I call you a self-rightous bigoted shitstain, you'll have one more reason to whine. I never showed shit to you until you ran your fucking mouth about how athiests are bitter and full of contempt, (in contrast to your enlightened ass, I'm sure).
And please, get off your Goddamn persecution soapbox. Nobody from a group of people called unfit to be citizens by a Republican nominee for President (who won the election) wants to hear some sob story from you about your imaginary persecutors. Diocletian's dead. You're not going to get to be a martyr. Get over it. When state constitutions expressly forbid Christians from serving in public office, then you can come back to me with your sad, sad tale.

The only time you'll recieve contemptuous treatment here is when you hand it out to start with. We have quite a few highly respected members here that are strongly religious. They behave in a civil manner and can carry on a rational debate. And the same goes for any highly respected member. Do think we'd clamor all over some n00bie that came in screaming "Love me, I'm an atheist"? He'd get flamed out the door so fast it would make your head spin!
No one is held in contempt for their personal beliefs, not at this place.
With the exception of bigots and the irrational, that is.

You make God sound like such a bad guy! Thankfully God is not bound to our understanding of good and evil and therefore we cannot judge His actions as either.
