Clash of the Sci-Fi Aces

Post by weemadando »

Who survives this battle royale between the greatest pilots of the multi-verse?

Assume that all the ships are capable of inflicting and receiving similar amounts of damage, just for fairness' sake. However any eccentricities of a particular vessel are free to be exploited.

Dead heat between Luke and Vader. Both of them have the force as their ally, which makes them better than almost any "unaided" pilot could ever hope to be. Their starfighters also outperform the rest of the pack by a substantial margin.

The only Sci-Fi pilot who could possibly win this is Alpha One, the laconic FreeSpace pilot.

I was going to put in an option for *yourself* in Wing Commander, Freespace, StarLancer etc, but due to character shields and the "retry mission" option it would have been a forgone conclusion.

And for the record:

Rick Hunter will win, he's survived every other damn thing, he's damn cool and a Veritech provides for excellent combat maneuverablity and survivability under nearly any circumstances.

Imputent Dog! Yeah left out Wedge Antilles the badest Ass pilot in any Galaxy, Why nothing Short of Kirk has his charater shield, and no one short of Vadar can match his skills. Even Luke is not as good as Wedge is but then who else has been flying from age six of his life, at least two hours every day the man makes it on natural talent and experance

What about Max Sterling? He was a way better pilot then Rick was. He shot down 11 enemy craft on his first non-simulation flight. Thats damn impressive. He could kick anyones ass with the valkiery.

well with all due respect, I am a Robotech fan because that was the show I watched. When I refer to the Japanese Macross I will call them by their proper names and whathave you. But I watched Robotech as a kid, and yes I realize that it isn't exactly the same show with story rewrites and all which is why I will call them Rick Hunter, Max Sterling, Lisa Hayes and whatever. Like I said man no disrespect to your lovin of the Macross, just stating my and many other folks position.

Jeffery Sinclair was supposed to be the hotshot fighter pilot of the B5 universed even before he ended up as Valen.

He'd probably be a pretty good choice out of all those listed. He's got a pretty good character shield due to that Valen thing and his family has been fighter pilots all the way back to the Battle of Britain.

Ivonova stands no chance, whatsoever. Other ace pilots that I think deserve inclusion are: Jag Fel, Wedge Antilles, and Fox McCloud.

Wedge Antilles. Who else has anything close to his combat record. He's been flying for decades against some of the best pilots ever produced by the Star Wars galaxy. He's got two Death Stars, plenty of capships, and countless hundreds of fighter kills. All other pilots pale in comparision to the great Wedge Antilles

A close second is Han Solo. He's done things in frieghter most pilots only wish they could do in fighter. I'd like to see any pilot pull of his ISD bridge trick. Plus he's pulled himself and his ship through scrapes that would have left any lesser pilot dead or in prison.

Oh yeah, I forgot Colonel Blair (ahem, President Blair). Maybe we should also add Thrackath. How many other Ace pilots have many lives?

James "Paladin" Taggert was the that became President not Blair. Blair is by all appearances dead at the claws of a Nelphilim.
Maybe we should also add Thrackath. How many other Ace pilots have many lives?
And he lost all of them when Kilrah went up. T-bombs are a bitch aren't they?

But Thrackath survived when he was killed in other games. That in and of itself is an extraordinary advantage over the other pilots, here.

I suppose if you find enough of his bits and pieces left to re-incarnate him, he would make it on the poll. Now though, well it's hard for little bits o' Kitty to fly a starfighter.
