I think a lot of people would notice, but how they would react/feel about it is beyond me.
I suppose any of us that are curious could just withdraw from the board and wait to see what happens, but then when everyone did it it would become routine-- then when one of us really is hit by a bus and spends a month in ICU, no one would care!

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Actually, I think both Zaia and Kelly are conditionally right about their absence not or hardly being noticed: I think it wouldn't...by people restricting themselves to the SciFi forums. Because both of them rarely if ever post there.
I DO think you (both of you) would be missed elsewhere (OT/SLAM primarily), if for no other reason than that you're the most prominent females among the few who frequent this board.
Plus, there DO seem to be a lot of people who WOULD miss you because, PotF aside (that means you, Kelly), they actually think rather highly of you.
Myself included, if that counts for anything.
Wow, three more replies since I started composing this.No wonder my postcount sucks...

No I wouldn't. I would never do such a thing.Iggy would carry on with PotF. It does have an ending, you know. He can easily finish it since he's writing it now anyway.
I certainly wouldn't.Hell, you'd probably forget my name after a week.
As for me, if I were to suddenly drop off, I have the feeling there would be a thread titled "Where the fuck is that damn droid?!"

Kelly, I would miss you very much for a very long time if you ever left the board.

New Q:
Who would be the easiest to spot as missing?
Darth Wong / Admiral Kanos ?
GAT ?
Stravo ?
Kelly ?
2000AD ?
Iggy ?
On a related note, i'm really missing Bean. His personality really lit up the board and i can't wait to see his reaction when he gets back to find that not one but 3 people have already reached 10,000 posts before him ?
Anyone know when he's coming back?

I know, I was just kidding. As for people easily missed.. well, everyone for a day or two. And I kinda miss Larz lately, even though I know him IRL.. But he's got finals, so I don't blame him..2000AD wrote:That list is by no means complete as i was just speculating. I want to know in your opinion, who would the easiest person to spot as missing?
Generally anyone that doesn't hang around outside the Science-fiction part of the board I will not notice.. People that don't post much, as well..

I'd like many wouldn't be noticed at first. But in certain threads with my commntary lacking a few may get bright. Especially those I IM all the time.

You know who'd I miss if they left? Illuminatus Primus. Man that guy knows everything about the EU imaginable. I've had a couple of good discussions with him too. Of course, his dumb little conspiracies never approached the greatnessorsneakiness of SEGNOR, but hey, a SW nerd is a SW nerd.

Goddammit, I don't like this thread.
It seems to me as if it's nothing more than an opportunity for people to bash themselves. In fact, it is almost identical to the morbid "would anyone miss me if I were dead" conversations that people with critically low self-esteem ask themselves in their darker moments.
It is a question designed to make people feel bad about themselves, and while it is against my usual policies to lock a thread in which no flamefests are occurring, I also see no reason for this thread to continue and it bothers me greatly from a psychological perspective (not that I'm a psychologist, but I know depressive shit when I see it).
In fact, I am inclined to lock this thread.

Yeah, but I get the feeling that some of the people aren't joking. Some people have genuine self-esteem problems, and while they need to work those problems out, I don't think that more opportunities to wallow in those feelings will be helpful.Captain_Cyran wrote:Note the smiley at the end of my post....
