1984 because I've read that one and seen it on TV and watched only "Clockwork Orange" besides that.. 1984 is only *just* less gross to me than Clockwork Orange, but don't ask me how that works, cos I really don't know.

First of all, you wouldn't have to ask that if you really understood the book, not just have read it.Enforcer Talen wrote:. . .really? how so?
The Party is virtually at the level of mind control, and they're getting closer. They will eventually find you, and you will be sent to Room 101, and you will be killed at the end. That is what always happens to people who don't love Big Brother.

Actually, the reprogramming machine was an experiment. Alex was the first test subject.
But again, don't go by the movie. It ignores quite a few things, like the fact that Alex is only 15 and that the two girls he rapes at one point are both 10.
And in 1984, you WILL get caught. You will ALWAYS get caught. They always find out.

No, it doesn't have to be killing someone to fuck up (at least in 1984). Basically you fuck up in any way and get caught, you get punished.Enforcer Talen wrote:yep. which is why they are in the same topic.

And like Spanky the Dolphin said ~ you fuck up, you get caught. There is no way around it. What do you think the telescreens are everywhere for? In the book, when the guy fucks the girl, the old man in the store downstairs knew there was a telescreen behind the picture in the room, but said nothing in that direction. YOU GET CAUGHT IF YOU FUCK UP.

The giver, assuming I can bring a few things from home. Nothing major, just an AK-47 and a shotgun along with ammo.

I'm getting the feeling that Talen has only seen the movies/read the books without truly understanding their contents or meanings. How superficial.verilon wrote:Even those in the Inner Party can fuck up, my friend. You're not seeing the point...Enforcer Talen wrote:about clockwork orange, indeed.

At least he's not talking about Fahrenheit 451. Utsanomiko would tear him a new one before he could get halfway through his misinterpretation.

-shrugs- been a yr since I read either of them. 1984 is in the mail.
and, very, the killing thing was referring to clockwork orange. I dunno how it would go over in 1984.
about the inner party, what is your point, exactly?

Well, I read 1984 three years ago, and my favorite part was the excerpt from The Book. The movie I didn't like so much. A Clockwork Orange, I have yet to read the book, but I'd like to.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I'm getting the feeling that Talen has only seen the movies/read the books without truly understanding their contents or meanings. This one, I have no idea what it's about, and I'd also like to read this one.. And the others on the list, as well, as 1984 is the only book of these that I have read.At least he's not talking about Fahrenheit 451. First of, it's not "very." Second, about the Inner Party ~ whether you are Inner Party, Outer Party or prole, you get caught if you do something wrong. If it's bad enogh (which is likely to be anything), you get put in Room 101. Or threatened with it, at the very least, from my understanding of it.Enforcer Talen wrote:-shrugs- been a yr since I read either of them. 1984 is in the mail.
