And of course listing me, Poe, and Mike on the troll list. I just had to check, see if it wasn't my meds or something.

It's all relative. :P

But a phaser 2 is more powerful then a HTL, after all, the HTL is only 100 watts.

What's worse to you guys, a rabid Trekkie or a rabid Fiver? I know that its basically the same thing, they're both rabid fans but which gets your goat more. For some reaon, it's the Fivers for me. The Trektards I can just laugh at some of their claims but there's something about the Fivers and the insane way they can spin out First One bullshit at the drop of a hat that makes me cringe. Perhaps its because I'm a HUGE B5 fan and hate to see some of the outright BS they spew.

Rabid Fivers.

Most trekkies stop at some point, and only the nuts go past a certain threshold.

But rabid fivers at some point pretty much pull out First Ones as if they are the end be all weapon in the universe able to accomplish anything with a single thought.

That and I like B5 more gets me more upon seeing Rabid Fivers...sorta glad the rational ones are so good at what they do.

Even trekkies haven't claimed redshirts have unlimited power sources. The same cannot be said for some Fivers.

-snort- You all are just jealous because since Star Wars killed itself with eps 1 and 2, Babylon 5 is the best sci-fi franchise out there.

And yet Enterpise held my attention for longer. Anyway, any filmed sci-fi is already quite low down on the scale in my opinion.

Heh heh...

That claim still makes me laugh. I really enjoyed his efforts to qualify his statement after the fact. At first, it was simply "unlimited power," then it became "almost unlimited energy" used at a finite rate. IOW, he pulled a total about-face.

Was it Ender that thought of me more as a Fiver? :) I appreciate that thought, because in truth, I'm far better acquainted with Star Trek and Star Wars, in that order.

I love all three. I have a great deal of trouble deciding which is my favorite...in truth, I can't pick. It's just too confusing. All have a lot of entertainment value for me, so I'm really a Warsie-Trekkie-Fiver rolled all into one package.

To address the subject of this thread:

Worst Trekkie trolls? It is tough to narrow them down :)

Tim Jones is definitely near the top.

I remember when I first joined ASVS, as "seanbigofmydeja," I didn't really know anything about the guy. I wondered if he was maybe catching an unduly hard time, so I e-mailed him. His response made it very clear to me why he was so poorly regarded.

Later, when I saw him "in action," I really understood how full of shit he was. His constant running back and forth to his imaginary astronomy professor (or whatever he was supposed to be) was a fuckin' scream. The "joules and watts are interchangable" was funny, too. I remember Ryan McReynolds SO patiently explaining the difference to Tim; ultimately, the latter "had to go consult his professor" yet AGAIN to "be sure."

Hmm...let's see...

Sovereign might qualify, because he has all the behavioral patterns of a troll, but he doesn't have the egotistical flair of a classic troll. He's also a bit brief...usually, trolls post TOMES, making some of my own messages puny in comparison. (Invariably, however, I've found that when you exhaustively respond to a troll's miles-deep bullshit, they'll comment on the length of YOUR post.)

Instead of a dedicated, intentional troll if you will, I get the impression Sovvie is about a 10 year old kid who has very limited computer access. A 10 year old can still be a troll, but I think a troll is a person who really gets a kick out of jerking people around. Sovvie doesn't give off that vibe...he's more of a troll through sheer inability to debate.

Hmm...

Space Luigi is weird, but too nice to be a high-end troll. He actually conceded something to me. Trolls NEVER conceed defeat. I decided I wouldn't bust Weegie's balls after that. He'll have to really go nuts for me to consider him a world-class Trek troll.

Wars trolls?

Me :)

At least, according to one guy at Spacebattles. I don't post there very frequently at all anymore, though I'd like to get involved with some of this "super TOS" bullshit. Most of the subjects at SB are all about anime, particularly Dragon Ball Z, which I find beneath contempt.

Anyway, since I'm not posting frequently, when I do pop in to attack some crazy anti-Wars claim, I suppose I do indeed appear quite the troll. All I care about is the truth. I don't give a damn what some hack Fiver thinks.

I honestly can't think of any Wars trolls. There have been a few, I'm sure. But SW debaters have been in such a strong position for so long, none of us really have any need to troll...it's the insecure Trekkies and Fivers who're apt to troll about the size of their respective members.

Aggressive B5 trolls make for a long, loooooong list:

Matt "Mughi"--the anti-pixel scaling guy that can't get "pixle" spelled quite right. Claims he "stumped" Brian on some points in their public debate (yeah, RIGHT! LOL).

Adam Warlock--fellow who came up with some weird theoretical 400 megaton/sec. figure for an Omega's guns based on plasma density; frequently disappears for long periods, claiming "retirement."

Lurking War-Trekker--or whatever he chooses to call himself these days...now you see him, now you don't-type poster that realizes Wars is more powerful, but looks for loopholes anyway. Self-proclaimed troll, among other things.

Elizar--aka Dark Lord.

Jupiter--claims the DS wouldn't stand a chance against the SPK.

OOS--once attributed megaton-range pulses to Starfury cannons; claimed "G.O.D" satellites had teraton-range firepower, etc.

Adarx--says Excalibur has teraton-range firepower.

I'm probably missing a few.

Reasonable Fivers: All of the Babtech staff.

Speaking just for myself:

I didn't include Galaxy in my pantheon of Trekkie Trolls because I haven't seen much of him. I know he's supposed to be real stupid, but I got the impression that he was kind of a one-hit wonder...spread some bullshit on rye for awhile, then promptly disappeared. (Was he banned? Should've been, from what I've heard.)

Rabid fivers are worse. It's as if they all got together and made sure to get their story straight before venturing out to meet the press, because they all seem to walk in lock-step. At least you can tell that a lot of rabid Trekkies found their own path to the wrong answer.
