I consider a fetish to be a taboo turn-on, or something that a lot of people find downright strange (like the foot fetish thing). So, saying that you like a certain hair colour or something--that's not a fetish, but saying that you like whips (yum) or chains (yum) or crush videos (ewwww!!)--those are fetishes.

Let's say your turn-on is redheads. Unless you can't sexually perform with someone who isn't a redhead (meaning to the point where a hot blonde could be all over you and you just can't get it up), it is merely a turn-on and NOT a fetish. That's my point. There is a line between the two; they are not interchangable.

You're absolutely right, it is closer (ie: I really like handcuffs and other restraints, but I do just fine without them too), but they are still not the same thing. That's my point with the definition. There is a difference!
