Just finished watching Pi

Now here's a question, having read some very simplistic books on Quantum Math, read a little bit about Pathagorus, and just finished watching Pi, and watched "Reign the conqueror" is it concievably possilbe to effect outside systems through a through understanding of the fundamental math and patterns?
