Support the Original Trilogy DVD's!
I generally don't like having too many anouncements and sticky's on the forum page so this will be up for a short time only (maybe a couple of months).
It has come to my attention that the great folks at Babtech are supporting a link to a petition that will urge George Lucas to release the original trilogy (with Han shooting first) in DVD format.
I urge all of you who want to see the proper Star Wars trilogy in DVD format to head to this link and sign the petition.
Please take care to sign it properly as false information will disqualify your signature.
Thank you all.
EDIT:: EEEE-GGAAAAADDDDDDDS! Why didn't anyone tell me that I said 'the great folds' instead of the 'great folks'? Come on people!

Still, signing it couldn't hurt.phongn wrote:It'd be nice if this happened, but I somehow doubt that GL will acede to such a petition

But they will be Special Edition OT, not the original. His Divine Shadow wrote:Just wait for the final set of DVD's that will have the prequels and OT on DVD, all movies in one.

I think he was suggesting that sometime down the line when Lucas wants to milk even more money from the series he will release a DVD (or whatever replaces DVD) set with his *final* version and the original theatrical cut in one package.
Lucas milking it for more cash wouldn't suprise me but so far the quotes I've seen from him make it seem unlikely he'll release anything but the *special editions*.
EDIT: By the way, I confirmed my signature on the petition today.

The thing is with the FotR Special Edition I thought they went to pretty decent lengths to let people know that a Special Edition would be coming out later in the year. At least I'd already read about it before the first edition was release. I got both anyway. I've heard a few people get upset about it but at the time I was always thinking to myself, "how could they not have heard there's going to be a SE later this year?". I certainly told everyone that I ran into who was interested in the FotR DVD.Darth Pounder wrote:In fairness to Lucas atleast he waited more than 6 months to release a SE i'm still reeling over the LotR SE of Fellowship of the Ring. Perhaps whining is what convinced GL to release TPM and AOTC on DVD way ahead of schedule (he originally said he was going to release all the movies on DVD at once.. once Ep3 was complete)....
If whining will get this too (the "originals" on DVD alongside any special souped up editions), I'm all for it.
If Spielberg can do it, there's no reason GL can't, except his own stubborn pride. He'd make more money too!
Confirmed my sig. Looks like 4,000 people haven't confirmed... probably trying to pad the list with fake emails.. tsk tsk.

I've signed it just like the other petitions towards Lucasfilm or Lucasarts.
I don't think anything will be afffected by this petition but I gave it a try anyways.
Since neither Lucasfilm, nor Lucasarts accept or respond to petitions by their policy, I think this kind of petitions are doomed....sadly.
