We regret that you have taken such a stance. You broke the agreement by threatening our ships and those of our allies. Now you demand that we forgo payment? You go too far.Thirdfain wrote:To: Asgard Trade Secretary

The trade agreement for the shield generators involved NO EXCHANGE OF MONEY. The Asgard Empire traded the shield generators for a military alliance with the Republic of Kharam- they are in fact the ones who defaulted on their payment, when they opened fire on vessels of the Kharamite Templar Navy.
The Asgard Empire decided to throw away our military alliance, therefore, we have thrown away their shield system. It is as simple as that.
The Asgard Empire is formally freezing all Floater assests in Asgard instituations until such time as payment is made. The total comes to roughly 219 billion. Not a dime will be touched until we are repayed.

Prompted by your own captian threatening our ships and those of our allies and the invasion of the system of a soveriegn ally. All of which are breeches of our agreement.Thirdfain wrote:Suspension of the alliance with the Asgard Empire did not take place until after Asgard vessels had fired upon, and destroyed, two capital ships of the Kharamite Templar Navy.

In the course of the events over the IDEX, not a single Floater vessel locked on to, launched strike-craft at, or threatened any Asgard vessels. It was the decision of the Asgard to stand with us, and disarm the situation, or stand with the Kokand, and start a massacre. We regret that you have taken such a stance. They made their choice, knowing the consequences full well. They broke the agreement then.

The Senate looks regretfully on this conflict. Although we view both sides has having commited grevious errors, we must side with the Asgard on this issue. It is only right that the Republic of Kharam pay the Asgard for work already completed and services already given. Beyond that, we feel that no payment is necessary.
The Roman Empire calls this matter to a vote before the Insterstellar Trade Alliance; further, we move that the Floater Republics, the Krytos Empire and all members of the New Bejing Alliance have their vote or veto temporarily suspended for this issue.

Here, here! The Mensia-Dorian seconds the motion! Also, we have begun serious consideration to form a neutral protectorate in this war to insure the safety of other governments.

In that case, we would ask that the Asgard Empire pay for the months of time, kilotons of fuel, and billions of credits it cost the Republic of Kharam to patrol Asgard space and provide protection to Asgard vessels. We lost a great deal when they defaulted on their agreement as well.It is only right that the Republic of Kharam pay the Asgard for work already completed and services already given. The Floaters launched strike craft, sent recon drones to shadow the our ships and those of the Kokand, and acted to aid the vessel of a rogue admiral who had just conducted a strike on an inhabitated planet. That was part of the agreement as your part of the payment. You have been compensated you for that and more with the sheild generators we installed to begin with and over which this whole arguement has begun.Thirdfain wrote:In that case, we would ask that the Asgard Empire pay for the months of time, kilotons of fuel, and billions of credits it cost the Republic of Kharam to patrol Asgard space and provide protection to Asgard vessels. We launched defensive Lancers, which are point-defence platforms, nothing more. Our former allies should know as much. The Floaters launched strike craft,
Our erstwhile allies had not responded to requests to explain the situation. The captain in command decided to find out what was going on with the resources at her disposal.sent recon drones to shadow the our ships and those of the Kokand
Floater personelle had no reason to think the firing, on an uninhabited section of the planet, was anything besides a demonstration. The Admiral of the vessel had informed us earlier that the firing was a demonstration, and cleared with planetary authorities. His lies have lead to a great deal of mischief.and acted to aid the vessel of a rogue admiral who had just conducted a strike on an inhabitated planet.
In responce to the actions of NBA members which clearly went beyond the realm of common sense, and seemed to threaten Floater civilians on-planet.And the summoned a fleet to violate the terroritory of a sovereign power.
The Asgard chose to assist a power which had just fired on a vessel which had stood down- Floater vessels NEVER attacked vessels of the Kokand, or indeed vessels from any of the NBA members- not until one of our ships had already been destroyed. The Asgard acted to safeguard an ally who had been attacked.
We were acting far less paranoid and warlike than the Kokand. The Floaters were to all concerned acting as enemies who had just started a war.
Your decision to stand besides the Kokand, self-proclaimed xenophobes and racists, who gladly murder nonthreatening vessels, precludes our enjoying normal relations with your Empire. Cure your ties with the warmongers in the Kokand Empire, and we will attempt to repair our relations with you.Even once the diplomatic efforts had cleared that regrettable incident up the Floaters chose to sever diplomatic ties with out even attempting to repair the situation.
Would the Asgard envoy be so kind as to explain his reasoning behind that statement? So far, the only thing we have gained is an understanding of the true corruption of the Kokand. The Floaters clearly chose to manipulate the situation to their benefit from the start.

Sematics. They could be used against our small as easily against missles. We launched defensive Lancers, which are point-defence platforms, nothing more. Our former allies should know as much.
And the fact they also provided data to the ships that could be used offensively and is indeed the usual use of such drones enters into it not at all?Our erstwhile allies had not responded to requests to explain the situation. The captain in command decided to find out what was going on with the resources at her disposal.
Yet they did not respond to Kokand authorities or the pleading of our captain to stand down. They never sought to contact Kokand or Asgard as to what went on. They threatened our vessels for the sake of a rogue that had just used WMDs (which the Floater claim to abhor) against an inhabitated planet.Floater personelle had no reason to think the firing, on an uninhabited section of the planet, was anything besides a demonstration. The Admiral of the vessel had informed us earlier that the firing was a demonstration, and cleared with planetary authorities. His lies have lead to a great deal of mischief.
Their well being was never threatened. Your captain's action posed a greater threat to their well being than anything the Kokand ever proposed. And again, the Floater captain merely threatened other rather than seeking to inquire about planet-side Floaters. In responce to the actions of NBA members which clearly went beyond the realm of common sense, and seemed to threaten Floater civilians on-planet.
Yet they threatened them with an offensive posture despite calls to stand down. The did the equivalent of hold a loaded gun to our heads and only stood down after provoking the NBA vessels with what could have been an invasion force. They forced us to fire and only stood down after action had begun. The Asgard chose to assist a power which had just fired on a vessel which had stood down- Floater vessels NEVER attacked vessels of the Kokand, or indeed vessels from any of the NBA members- not until one of our ships had already been destroyed.
The Kokand had just been attacked. Securing their space is a reasonable measure in such times. The Floater on the other hand threatened the vessels doing that, even called in additional warships. We were acting far less paranoid and warlike than the Kokand.
The Kokand did not murder non-threatening vessels. They did open fire on Floater vessels threatening them and apparently acting in concert with an attacking force.Your decision to stand besides the Kokand, self-proclaimed xenophobes and racists, who gladly murder nonthreatening vessels, precludes our enjoying normal relations with your Empire. Cure your ties with the warmongers in the Kokand Empire, and we will attempt to repair our relations with you.
We repeat that the Kokand are our allies and friends. They are not racist nor xenophobic.

Kokand sees no threat as of yet from the Roman Empire. We wish no conflict with you.HemlockGrey wrote:The Kokand mobilization disturbs the peace of Earth. The Roman Empire has put all ground forces on red alert.
However, we do not wish to escalate any conflict. We merely wish that the Kokand affirm that they do not intend any hostile action against Rome.

And locating a cheep empty launcher will get you what? Nothing in fact, we don't bother with reloads. Tracking and enageing the missiles themselves if far more diffacult then you fools would like to think.Thirdfain wrote: Long range missiles. Ballistic, cruise, whatever- Simple targets at these short ranges, with their origin points readily trackable by orbiting Floater warships and troops on the ground.
These are not rational people. These are not moral people. Those in charge of the Kokand Empire show, once again, that their racism and xenophobia guide their every action.
Of course you present no proof nor a single example to support your insanity. Indeed there has never been such a complaint filed against Kokand.
All Floater Assets within the Kokand Empire are now frozen. Kokand urges its NAB allies to cease trade with this dangerous nation, which seems hell bent on the destruction of international law.

Absolutly. To act as sources of targetting data, they would have needed to hit you with active sensors- something they never did, these were stealthed drones, after all. They were simply watching for signs of militant action by our allies who had just acted so strangely, and the Kokand, who had just opened fire on one of our allied vessels, for what we, knowing what we did at the time, construed as no reason. And the fact they also provided data to the ships that could be used offensively and is indeed the usual use of such drones enters into it not at all?
Understandable, as a Kokand warship had just locked on to them. To quote the "Black Alice's" tactical officer,Yet they did not respond to Kokand authorities or the pleading of our captain to stand down. .
Perhaps the Asgard empire could explain to us why they, knowing full well that Floater combat doctrine calls for the launching of lancers to provide point defense as a standard part of defensive readiness, did not inform their Kokand allies of the fact?"Enemy active sensors are hitting our vessels, skipper- It looks like targetting devices."
These following transmissions were Freecast through the entire system by Floater vessels, as all records will show:They never sought to contact Kokand or Asgard as to what went on.
By the captain of the "Black Alice"
"We will not leave our people stranded, in any circumstance, and by the Mother Void, I'm not leaving this system until you of the NBA broadcast your intentions. The technological riches at that expo would be a fine prize, for any power looking to gain an advantage- once again, waht are your intentions?"
As you can see, we attempted to get an explanation of your actions. Kokand vessels responded simply by ordering our vessel to leave our people stranded on planet."I repeat- this vessel isn't going anywhere until I know exactly what your intentions are. Explain your actions. Explain this disturbance over this peaceful trade-meeting. Explain your firing on one of our ally's warships. Until I have answers, I will stay in system, to protect my people on-planet!"
We never threatened your vessels. We demanded to know the situation, and recieve an explanation for your firing on a ship which, due to misinformation handed to us by the Krytosian dissident, appeared to us to be simply taking part in the IDCEX. They fired against an uninhabited section of the planet, and the "Black Alice's" captain, being unfamiliar with planetary environments, didn't think of the atmospheric side effects of such a strike. After all, she had never been in an atmosphere, and wasn't thinking along those lines. They threatened our vessels for the sake of a rogue that had just used WMDs (which the Floater claim to abhor) against an inhabitated planet.
When ORDERED by Kokand vessels to leave our people stranded, of course the Black Alice's captain acted protectively. The Kokand threatened their well being when they locked their weapons onto the "Black Alice."Their well being was never threatened. Your captain's action posed a greater threat to their well being than anything the Kokand ever proposed. And again, the Floater captain merely threatened other rather than seeking to inquire about planet-side Floaters.
False. EVERYONE PRESENT, and EVERY LOG OF THE ACTION will show that the Floater vessels stood down almost thirty seconds before the Kokand vessels opened fire.Yet they threatened them with an offensive posture despite calls to stand down. The did the equivalent of hold a loaded gun to our heads and only stood down after provoking the NBA vessels with what could have been an invasion force. They forced us to fire and only stood down after action had begun.
Explain how a single Strike Cruiser, who was only targetting the vessel targetting it, is a loaded gun to the head of the NBA? Explain how a group of Floater vessels which had just freecast their intentions to stand down and allow third party negotiations are a loaded gun!
Ah, yes- Because the Free Floater Republics are so very interested in invading planets. Your ally's prejudicial insanity seems to be seeping into your mind as well.with what could have been an invasion force
Ah, yes- the horrific threat of a warship with it's weapons powered down. An "attacking force" which has just done the same. The Kokand did not murder non-threatening vessels. They did open fire on Floater vessels threatening them and apparently acting in concert with an attacking force.
They may very well be your allies and friends- as for their racism and xenophobia, look at this, propoganda they themselves broadcast! We repeat that the Kokand are our allies and friends. They are not racist nor xenophobic.
Propoganda follows:
(emphasis added)They ignored all of them and where destroyed. It was a fitting fate for these war mongering people who rejected normal society and now spend there time in deep space creating a new super race. You are fools to follow them.
Hmm, so, Floaters are not "Normal?" we are in deep space creating a new "super race?"
Blatant xenophobia!
On the contrary- We have spoken only the verifiable truth. We ask that all powers interested in this dispute read the intel reports of the actual events, (pages 16, 17, 18, I believe in this thread (ooc))You have used lies and propoganda to manipulate public opinion and to default on obligations to other star nations
We lost a great deal when our Asgard allies decided to side with the Kokand and help escalate violence. We lost as much as you did, if not more. In addition, at the start of this debacle, we initially offered our support to our then-allies in the Asgard Empire- support which was turned down, with no explanation. We have only acted in a manner which we believed was in the best interests of Floater citizens. When we saw that our actions were misguided, we attempted to remedy the situation, only to have our vessels destroyed and our crews murdered.
