If you shrink the red ones down to 85% of their original size, then they come in at 8x12 pixels (properly rectangular), while remaining true to scale.

This question should go on StarWars, but....

How were these pips used to determine ranking? Is there a sourcebook or other canon for what rank has what number/color?

I asked the question about using an Imperial Rank Bar in a previous thread which YB ruthlessly locked even though there was no other open thread regarding the stars. I still think Imperial or maybe even Starfleet type pips are the way to go.

You don't need quotation marks for a URL.

Not that I care too much, but the yellow looks a bit naff.
And what about other symbols like the Federation?

The UFP logo? Isn't that your avatar? Too complex. Now the Starfleet logo, that would work.

I know. I had to shrink the size of my avatar just to keep the quality semi decent. Its still to damned small. Rank pips would work though.

Originally I thought "what the hell are these stupid stars doing under people's names" until I realized that I had three. So I'm highly in favor :)

You get "only three stars" if you've been around the longest. ;) Once a year or two passes the difference between the star count of older and younger members will be more blatant.

As for Imperial vs Feddy emblems...it isn't GalaxyClass.net.

I do recall Lord Wong mentioning that stars were dependant on what theme the forum was set for, though, so the LCARS theme could have the StarFleet emblem and so on. *shrugs*
