I wrote "Jedi" for my religion on the census. I'm one of the anointed 20,000.

And I defy any government official to prove that I don't subscribe to the Jedi belief system. In fact, since many Christians regard the Bible as allegory rather than literal truth, and Star Wars could just as easily be seen as a morality play, I defy any government official to prove that Star Wars is a less valid source of religious beliefs than the Bible.

I thought that Star Wars was intended as a morality play. But wouldn't the rise of real-life Jedi also give rise real-life Sith - the worst first deliberately evil religion which isn't exclusively practised by fringe-lunatic headbangers from Norway??

Yeah, but there would be thousands of Jedi and only two Sith. Unless we grow complacent and arrogant, they'd pose no threat, and if we do grow complacent and arrogant, then we've got plenty of other problems to worry about.

But what if these Sith get access to some important position in society?

Could my computer/room be considered an altar to Star Wars? If so I hereby proclaim it the main Jedi Temple of Sydney.
