LANDO : We'll last longer then we will against that Death Star...and we might just take a few of them with us.

LANDO: How can they be jamming us if they don't know... if we're coming. Break off the attack. The shield is still up.
PILOT: I get no reading. Are you sure?
LANDO: Pull up, all craft pull up!

They were already at the Death Star in that scene (so close that I seem to recall the novelization mentioning that some of the fighters were disintigrated by the shield when they weren't able to pull up in time) and that was only fifty seconds after they came out of hyperspace. After that they were forced to fall back to a position further away from the Death Star, but that doesn't change the fact that they managed to reach it less than a minute after dropping out of hyperspace.

And as I said, a minute can be a long time. Imagine if the DS had been firing all that time (though that's a bit sensible for the Emp)

Anyway, that was a fairly atypical battle, and normally tactical manouvring is gonna be with respect to the enemy fleet. Thus warp primarily gives an advantage when the other guy doesn't have it, which leads to attacking stationary fortifications.

Remember in one of the Thrawn books when he uses an Interdictor to jump a SD right in next to a Golan and broadsides it? Presumably he could have moved a ship there in sublight, but that can be seen and prepared for, removing the shock effect. After a while people are going to be expecting warp mcro-jumps, but that takes effort, and prevents them from treating one side of their ship\station as safe. In the long-term it's not war-winning, but it's useful, and can be battle-winning.

After a thorough reworking by competant engineers and programmers to remove the possibility of it killing you, I can see holo-brothels opening on Coruscant. That's about it.

I would imagine it would reshape industry.

Hmm, any person real or otherwise, any act physically possible or not? At no risk(beyond for what the user wanted)?

Eventually the likes of the Black Sun use it also.
Disruptors can already do that, actually.
True, but thats the old-fashioned way, it is messy and explosive to say the least.
