The emperor stood on the podium and began his speach. "Ladies and gentleman, we are here to honor an individual whose selfless act of bravery has saved the lives of many of our people. Had captain Fu not acted the way he did the transport Deliverance would have been lost with all hands his actions were brave and noble" The emperor turned to captain Fu "Captain, please rise" Fu got up out of his seat and walked up to the podium. "For your actions in safeguarding our transport i hereby give you this medal of commondation on behalf of the Krytos Star Empire"
The emperor placed the medal around captain Fu's neck "perhaps you would like to say a few words?"

"Indeed. The most important thing is, that I accept this medal not for me as an individual, but as a representative of my men.
A captain is nothing without a loyal, professional crew, and indeed I have not seen finer men and women than those who serve onboard the Red Dawn.
I, and the whole PIR feels most honored by this noble gesture of the Krytos Star Empire and it's great leader, when we did nothing but do our duty. May this medal be a symbol and the beginning of a lasting friendship between our two nations!"

We of the Free Floater Republics applaud both the Krytos Star Empire and the People's Interplanetary Republic for their commitment to peace. We hope that this is the beginning of improved relations between the NBA and the other powers of Known Space.

Peace between the PIR and the Krytos has resulted in an increase in the stock markets. All ITA economies grow stronger. As quoted by a random person on the trading room floor of the Minmater Stock Exchange,

As a result of the strenghtening economy the KSE government has lowered monthly taxes by 7%

Times were good. ITA membership, and end to the prohibition of corporations, and the leasing out of 4 carrier groups had caused the economy of the UPK to surge to preposterous levels. The King had not spoken to his former Jedi advisor in months, and had decided to hold a free election, in which his position was affirmed in a landslide victory. He had every reason to be happy and celebrant, but his mind was troubled. The Jedi Arthur Tuxedo was visiting the admiral of every carrier group. He said it was for morale-building purposes, but the King feared something far more sinister. Perhaps it was time to arrange for an "accident" for the good Jedi...

And to celebrate the Parliment has just cut taxes for the next month and a half by .5% in celebration. We hope this continues, and allows those who feared a recession because of war to relax.

Rather then tax cuts we'll be putting the surpluss back into health and education. We'll be writing off over $100,000,000 in student loan debt and increasing subsidies on health insurance.

Although the hundred million is well within our budget, analysts predict that most of the revenue will be recuperated from an increase in liquor sales when students look for other things to spend their money on.

Demonstrate that any damage has actually been inflicted. Kokand is free to broadcast whatever signals it wishes from within its own space and these cause no damage.

We have clear footage of Kokand vessels deploying transmissions purposely designed to interfere with our scientific sensors. Your claims of a military spy network are laughable- these satillities bore on markings.

If we do not recieve reparations and a public apology within 24 hours, Roman forces will cross into southern Africa to facilitate the withdrawal of Kokand forces beyond the 5 degree mark.

[Neutral Space near the Asgard Border]

The light cruiser, AIN Templar closed slowly with the wreck. Earlier she had picked up a general distress transmission. It had been heavily garbled. Now she closed in on what had been the sending vessel. It appeared to be a small Floater transport. She had been gutted, judging from the scorch patterns, by particle beam fire. Sensors raked the hulk, searching for signs of survivors and recording the scene.

"I'm getting no life signs. Hard to tell with the residual radiation leakages. I can barely make out her transponder."

"Damn" the young Captain swore softly "Send over a Marine boarding party to check it out. Have them document everything."

The pinnance swung round to land over the small cargo airlock. The Marines prepare to make the hard vacumn crossing to the ship. A heavily armed squad drifted over and began working on the hatch.

"Still locked down. Who ever attacked them didn't bother looting."

Soon the worked their way into the ship. Lights and air were on though everything drifted in zero-g.

"We're in the passanger spaces. A lotta bodies. " The marine's poked their heads threw another compartment. "They look mutilated..... Some sort of energy or plasma weapon did 'em in but they worked 'em over before that"

Slowly the squad made their way through, clearing each of the compartments.

"Skipper, we got some dead diplomats here. Really worked over. Barely recognizable."

They finished their sweep of the vessel. After they had cleared it they began bagging the bodies. Some were so shredded it was hard to tell. Working slowly the grizzly cargo was shipped back to the Templar.

But the transmissions were designed with the sole purpose of knocking out the Roman satelites, were they not? And if they weren't is it only right that they pay the Romans back for the damage they inflicted?

With what? Your nukes would be ineffective against the shields, and your positions would soon be overrun by our (the collective our) troops. And if dare to use Nukes against Civillian populations it would show just how dead set against humanity you are.

The Regent was rushed into the underground of the place, an hour and a half later the Prince, the high command, and the Monacoran 10th were all safe under the Crystal palace of Monaco. Meanwhile in Andorra the same thing was being done with the Parliment.

At the same time the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Mellican regiments reinforced the African Front, and all the Non- Garrison Regiments formerly stationed on Far Point, though they had already been withdrawn, were put on top alert and to be ready to reinforce or invade. The marine regiments, oddly enough, were no where to be found.

The Floaters have given the Kokand an impossible to meet ultimatium and threated war if it's not met. We don't want war but it's clear that they do. Given their previous behaviour we aren't likely to get a chance if we wait.

It's not relevant now as they've declared war on us and begun bombardment.
