There is a dirty little secret about Saudi Arabia, though. Over the past 35 years or so, the population has skyrocketed from 5 Million or so to over 25 Million. Because of polygamy among cousins, the birth defect rate is staggering. Many congenital eye problems, kidney problems, mental problems. This cuts across all social lines, but the better educated seek wives from Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, and the West in their attempt to reverse this recognized problem. But it's going to take a long time. Bottom line: a lot of Saudis are cross-eyed, crazy as coots, need dialysis, are filthy rich, and very apt to be involved in terrorist activity.

Not surprising. Bigoted societies tend to inbreed because of their xenophobia; this is the intrinsic nature of racial and religious bigotry, both of which the Saudis have in spades.

To see whats going to happen watch "The Crimson River" (it MUST be the subtitled version as the dubbed version I encountered radically changed the plot). But move it from a mountain to a desert.
