The First Federation vs. The Empire or the NR
I don't know if it has been discussed before but what do you think? Do the FF stand a chance?

If first Federation is the TOS-era fed, then no. While they have advantages over the TNG-era fed, (easier-aim phasers, mortars, support weapons) their tech is less powerful, and they are a smaller organization. They would probably last as long as the TNG-era Federation.

The Cult of Connie believes that TOS can surpass hyperspace travel by infinite measures and the Connies phasers are capable of vaporising a planet.YT300000 wrote:If first Federation is the TOS-era fed, then no. The Firs Federation is NOT the TOS era Federation. Anyone remember the Guardian of Forever? I do believe that is one of their creations.

The First Federation is definitely not the TOS United Federation of Planets. Rather, it's the TOS-era organization that sent out its huge spheroid battleship Fesarius (looking like a giant orange beach ball made of golf balls) to warn off Kirk's Enterprise.
Then it turns out that the huge ship, with its grim-looking gray-skinned humanoid captain, is actually controlled from a little auxiliary craft, and that the only person actually on board is a very short munchkin of a captain, played by Clint Howard. A round of tranya for everyone.
The real problem appears to be that the First Federation seems to have serious personnel trouble combined with a lack of ships. Otherwise, those giant spherical craft should reasonably have been coming to the aid of the UFP in the Dominion War. A suitably armed vessel with the size and power generation capability of the Fesarius would have been an impressive addition to any Federation fleet.
Of course that would have required long-term continuity, something so difficult that only quality primetime shows and every soap opera ever made would bother with it. Apparently B&B consider soap fans to be smarter than Trek fans.
