Exactly how far away is Galvatron and the Surfer from Unicron and Galactus, for Galvatron to appear that large in comparison to Unicron? (Assume that Surfer is the same distance away from the two behemoths as Galvatron, since Galvatron is pointing his gun at him.)

Comic book unicron could only be destroyed by the Matrix. Thats it. And the Matrix can only be weilded by an autobot. Galactus doesn't have the Matrix, nor is he an autobot, so even if he could get it, he couldn't use it. And hence, Galactus in the ends loses.
