Desperate to find something...
...that can defeat the forces of the Empire, some clone posted some ridiculously powerful uber-race IOT show how badly Imperial forces would be waxed. Sure enough, one of the wank-wanks said, "Where are the warsies to defend their Empire?!"

Indeed; who cares?

What an idiot.boggy b wrote:Yup. Mike is definitely a numbers man, but that doesnt stop him from arguing some of the most ridiculous points... I once had a discussion with him about the brain vs. a supercomputer and all he could come up with for why the computer is more intelligent is that it can add up loads of numbers really quickly (useful for calculating vs. debates stuff) and therefore is more intelligent.
And you know that worst thing? Every warsie there agreed with him...

Indeed; I remember that argument in which I showed that the human brain is a lousy computer, rather than his strawman distortion of claiming that the computer is a superior brain. But that's typical of losers; they run away and claim victory by simply lying about what happened. Remember: there are no Americans in BaghdadIlluminatus Primus wrote:What an idiot.boggy b wrote:Yup. Anyway, about the thread subject, their whole argument seems to be based on the claim that one shot from their vessels can vapourize Phobos. Have they substantiated this claim in any way?

Probably laughing at the strawman fallacy that because the Empire can defeat the UFP and the races on B5 and a lot of other sci-fis, they must be able to defeat all sci-fi races/universes. Truly pathetic.jegs2 wrote: "Where are the warsies to defend their Empire?!"

Re: Desperate to find something...
That's common practice among certain trolls there, I've noted. CrossoverManiac and others have a habit of answering SWvST or SWvB5 arguments with "oh yeah? Well, <insert obscure sci-fi universe here> could kick SW's ass!" As if they don't realize that all such statements can be answered with "so what?"Master of Ossus wrote:Probably laughing at the strawman fallacy that because the Empire can defeat the UFP and the races on B5 and a lot of other sci-fis, they must be able to defeat all sci-fi races/universes. I should be no surprise to anyone that the SW universe can be defeated by more powerful universes...

He argued with me over the Shadow Planet Killer vs. Death Star thread that Ted based his "Amusing Fiver Wanking" post in HOS on.
His entire premise was that, since he thinks hyperspace is "another dimension," it was fair for Shadow ships to phase INSIDE of a Death Star, in spite of the fact that we've never seen anything remotely close to that happening. All evidence suggests they can't do this, in fact.
It quickly became a burden of proof scenario, in which if I couldn't disprove said ability, it must exist
Spacebattles has some decent posters here and there, but it seems to be a fucking petri dish for growing moldy fan-whoring. It's so rare that you find reasonable people that, when you do, you're so thankful to find them in that abyss that you can't bring yourself to argue with them.
Pain, or damage, don't end the world, or despair, or fuckin' beatin's. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, ya got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man ... and give some back.
