Indigo Montoya was pretty good.

Vader was awesome.

Li Mu Bai. The comics give him a much better showing than the movie.

Well,
Drizzt is not even the best swordsman of D&D worlds (not even of toril) and In Kenshin universe's Seijuro Riiko(Kenshin's master) is the best swordsman, so people just have to rule them out.
But Conan...he was the perfect barbarian.

Hmmm...the greatest I don't know. I list the most memorable ones instead.

Conan is definitely my favourite barbarian. So he's on my list.

Who else?

Blade from the movies were good.

Drizzt is probably not the best swordsman in Faerun but he's the best in fighting with two scimitars! :D

Prince Rupert (aka Hawk) and Princess Julia (aka Isobel Fisher). If nothing else, for the mere fact that if they find themselves in a stalemate against an equal or better fighter, they'll happily spit in your face, stamp on your foot, kick you in the groin, and run you through while you're distracted.

They;d figure out the former and the latter would kill them, but only because they didn't have anything under the DnD rules that can hurt, much less kill, a monster with high Damage reduction.

In terms of pure skill, rather than quasi-magical abilities allowed by the univers they exist in, Dread Pirate Roberts gets it. The others usually haev some advantage grounded in breaking the laws of phsyics through "ki" training, etc.

At which pont, you may as well give it to Trunks from DBZ, since no one else could hurt him no matter what wepaon they have and he can dice all of them together before they blink.

And, BTW, its spelled:
Rurouni Kenshin (Himura Kenshin).

Technically speaking, are Jedi Knights and Sith Lords allowed?

The first three volumes have been released in the US already and Li Mu Bai's one nasty customer to take on in a fight (of course I'd say that of anyone capable of turning a leaf into a lethal weapon)

Also, Jade Fox was HOT when she was younger.

When did Vader ever really display great swordmanship abilities? Not Anakin from ATOC but Darth Vader, because Vader was significantly altered from Anakin. Hell Vader was beat by Luke and Luke was not a good swordsman(hack and slash).

You know, I would say Benedict of Amber, but the "no gods" thing kind of rules him out.

From Berserk:
Gatsu
Zodd
Skull Knight

From Rurouni Kenshin
Hiko Seijirou
Seta Soujirou

Samurai Jack

I'd probably go with Hiko Seijirou for the best, with Soujirou second, Skull Knight third, Zodd fourth, Gatsu fifth, and Jack sixth (BTW Kenshin beats Jack with ease IMHO).

His real name actually is Shinta Himura but his master gave him a new name Kenshi Himura.

Also noteworthy Manji from Blade of the Immortal. He may not be the most skillfull but he's cunning as heck.
Himura was never said to be the surname of Shinta. Himura could have been tacked on by the Ishin Shin after Kenshin started working for them or by Hiko Sejiro himself. Sorry, minor nitpick

Also, technically, Vader's swordplay was far far far far far far far far superior than ANYTHING in the prequels.

Death from the Sea, which school of swordsmanship do you attend? Where do you form your professional opinion on which trilogy has better swordsmanship? Tell me the name of your instructor.

He's just a demigod. :)

Otherwise, I'll take Decado, the Ice Killer.
