The Force in the Empire
This just popped into my mind - even though the training of jedi during the Empire's rule is practicly non-existant, this doesn't eliminate those who are adept in the Force. I guess I was wondering if there would still be individuals who would be able to harness some abilities on their own (mind control, object manipulation, ect.) without the proper training of the now non-existant Jedi Order? I suppose the question would stand during the Jedi Order as well.
It's probably already been covered in a book I haven't read.

Well, there were people in the Empire who had some Force-skills. Kyle Katarn learned a few Force skills--minor TK stuff for the most part I believe--before he ever began training as a Jedi. Likewise, people with high Force potential might have had learned to trust their instincts more than others--what they thought was instinct was actually a form of Force precognition.
But anyone with such skills who drew a lot of attention to himself would be in trouble because Palpatine had several Force-trained agents who would handle such potential problems.

Force adepts had 3 choices in the empire:
1. Keep a low profile
2. Stay on the run from the death squads
3. Become valuable to the Empire. The Emperor had a number of force-sensitive agents, including dark Jedi, Mara Jade, and a certain Force-Sensitive Grand Admiral.

Darth Vader was supposedly known for rounding up force-sensitive children. Some probably became Dark Side adepts; the fate of the others is not known.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

There was that guy from the EU book The New Rebellion, Brakiss i think his name was. He was recruited to be a shadow agent for the Empire and eventually took the assignment of infiltrating the Jedi Accademy. It seems that all force users that palpy found where rounded up and trained to various branches of the empire. I'd imagine that those who didn't take the indoctrination where disposed off.

The Galactic Empire had a standing policy of making use of those Force-sensitives that it could, and liquidating those it could not. The Force-sensitives it could use were typically handled by the Inquisitorius, which was "charged with rooting out all that smacked of the old ways" (Dark Empire Sourcebook). Examples of agents of the Inquisitorius include Jerec, the late Grand Inquisitor Laddinare, Lord Torbin, former High Inquisitor Adalric Cessius Brandl, High Inquisitor Tremayne, Inquisitor Ameesa Darys, Inquisitor Drayneen, Inquisitor Vialco, and Brakiss (subsequently Shadow Academy Headmaster).
Other notable categories of Force-sensitives in the Empire include the Emperor's dark side adepts (e.g., the Constable of Homunculi, Savuud Thimram, Janus Greejatus, Grand Admiral Nial Declann), the Prophets of the Dark Side (e.g., Kadann, Jedgar), the Emperor's Hands (e.g., Blackhole, Tan Maarek Stele, Mara Jade), the Emperor's Dark Jedi (e.g., Sedriss, Xecr Nist), and miscellaneous dark side agents (e.g., Lord Hethrir, Jaalib Brandl, Rokur Gepta); the occasional Sith Lord (i.e., Darth Vader) also exists.
There are also a few classes of low-level dark side users, such as the Darktroopers, Sentinels (not quite individuals, per se), Shadow 'Droids, Sith Knights, and the Emperor's Sovereign Protectors.

And those with only a fraction of Force sensitivity aren't bothered; shown by Corporal Reezen in "The Courtship of Princess Leia".
Once, when Reezen was in his early teens, he'd watched a military parade on Courscant with his father, and during the parade Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, had stalked by - nearly. Instead, Vader had halted the parade, stopped to look at Reezen, pat him on the head. Reezen remembered how his frightened image had been reflected in the Dark Lord's helmet, remembered the cold terror as that armoured hand patted his head, but Vader had only said softly, "As you serve the Empire, trust your sensitivity," and then he moved on.

You had better not be referring to Thrawncertain Force-Sensitive Grand Admiral.

Excuse me, but to which an extent is Thrawn force-sensitive?? BTW, even if he had Force abilities, wouldn't they be blocked by his pet Ysalimiri??Darth Fanboy wrote:You had better not be referring to Thrawncertain Force-Sensitive Grand Admiral.
