I'm sorry, but that's actually a method used on guitarists to test if the stage is level whilst he stares helplessly at the music you've put in front of him.Rye wrote:How do you know if the drummer's stool is on a level setting?

Well, typically drummer has the connotation of just being an instrumentalist, whereas percussion has the connotation of being a true musician.Mitth'raw'nuruodo wrote:Pissing Razors? Sounds painful. Fun name though...Rye wrote: Guy from Pissing Razors
EDIT: My band director intentionally calls the percussionists "dummers". I don't know if that was just a funny typo on the part of the topic-starter, or intentional, but it reminded me of that...

No man, Carter is a nuthouse, man! I recently pulled out a chart of the tune "Stay (Wasting time), and I STILL after several years of having that chart have the same reaction as before:Durran Korr wrote:Is it possible that I am not the only DMB fan on this board?Zaia wrote:Carter Beauford

You know, I've met two of the drummers that I have listed here, but Virgil isn't one of them (I've met Ed Soph and Glen Velez).
And no matter what you say Gene Krupa did or didn't do, he still kicked ass. Love him.

Yeah, I have about 80 or so DMB concerts on CD...some of the stuff he does gets really amazing.Saurencaerthai wrote:No man, Carter is a nuthouse, man! I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

And then, of course, there are those of us who are ultimate musicians and can play EVVVVVVVVVVVVERYTHING but just focus on percussion because it's the most fun.
![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
And I love Carter Beauford because he can play the hardest, most complicated shit and sit there with the cutest grin on his face and blow bubbles with his gum. TOO FUCKING AWESOME! Love him. I'd have two thousand of his babies, aerius.

Not just because it's most fun! Because no matter how much other instruments don't want to admit it, the drums rule the house any day.Zaia wrote:

Btw, I actually give more credit to guys like Warren "Baby" Dodds (invented the jazz ride pattern and moved it to the cymbal instead of the snare) and guys like Papa Joe Jones and Chick Webb for the development of the modern hihat. I think those were some of the real underlayers of modern drumming.
Just curious: what do you play?

Assuming you have triplets every 9 months, that works out to 12 babies every 4 years, or about 500 years to have all his kids, unless my math is off. May I suggest waiting till they can grow babies to maturity in the lab or perfect an immortality treatment?Zaia wrote:[And I love Carter Beauford because he can play the hardest, most complicated shit and sit there with the cutest grin on his face and blow bubbles with his gum. Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

*tempted to repost a zillion drummer jokes*
adding to the list:
Stewart Copeland & Mic Fleetwood - 'nuff said
Mark Brzezicki - drummer for Big County, the Cult (and some others), and an all around incredible studio drummer.
Kenny Arnoff (IIRC) - the original drummer for John Cougar Mellencamp. A great drummer, simple yet quite tasty.
the guy from Midnight Oil
the guy from Chic (also played in Power Station)
